no so much anymore - it just needs cleaning. already many things were taken out. area is slowly getting more and more expensive from the cheapest part of Midtown as it used to be.

These are the first office towers that will rise at the Hudson Yards. The north tower will be over 300m.

They're designed by KPF, which I believe designed the Heron Tower in London. The north tower looks a lot like a supertall version of Heron.

The new park running between 10th and 11th Avenues is visible in the second photo, as is the site of the 300m+ Girasole tower which will rise when the subway station underneath it is finished.

As noted, this resembles a supertall version of London's Heron, which was also designed by KPF.

It will become an enormous cluster. It's now a shoddy area with taxi garages and industrial buildings that house stables for police horses and hansom cab horses.

Besides the actual Yards itself, there are many adjacent properties with air rights of over 2m sf which will yield towers well over 300m as of right. The Girasole Tower is one of the many.

Also, eventually, the adjacent Javits Convention Center (seen to the left in the photo) will be razed and replaced with highrises. Moreover, the 300m+ towers proposed by Brookfield will rise in this area.

Only the tops of those buildings will even be visible since these office towers sit on the east half of the platform, and the west half of the platform will be covered with residentials.

It's butt ugly, it shouldn't be built at all. I didn't wait four years, for this trash.
I hope the don't use the same architect for the rest of the project.

Oh why is the Extell building in that picture? It isn't going to be built.

Maybe you shouldn't be 'waiting' so long for some buildings only to be disappointed. Life is too short.

It isn't my fault they didn't start building yet. I don't have any choice but to wait.

I found it amazing. I liked it. I think that New York is in need of different projects than what we're used to seeing. Looking through the photos, many may find evil, but if it is done, I'm sure many will change their minds.

And about these pictures, what is its source? Where did you get these images?

They're from KPF's website.

This is being built. The intial office building will sit on an area that doesn't hover over the tracks. Therefore, the platform is not needed for construction to start. That being said, construction of the platform is expected to begin soon, as is the first tower. Supposedly, an American company called Coach is negotiating to take 600,000 sf in the first tower.

I won't lie, it is a little upsetting to see the ESB getting covered up by all these new towers.

That is, of course, no reason to protest the developments.

Unfortunately no. They're offering extremely low rents for the commercial aspect of the first tower, just what it costs them to build it to sort of get this project going. With that in mind, I'd be surprised if construction didn't start this year, they've been talking to Coach and a few other firms:

From Curbed.com on 14 Feb 2011:

http://ny.curbed.com/archives/2011/0...dson_yards.php

FAR WEST SIDE—Related's Stephen Ross said this year he's planning to rent out 3.5 million square feet of space in Hudson Yards office buildings that don't yet exist, but only Coach has publicly shown interest. With whom is Related negotiating? According to one tipster, Related "has deals" with Credit Suisse and "maybe" Hearst, but we'll file that under deep rumormongering. Does Hearst need more space? Nothing trashy about it. KPF produces some of the best final products for their buildings. SOM and Foster and Co. always give showy renders that turn out pretty bad.

I've been looking over the pictures, searching for information on the net and got a conclusion. At first I quite liked the design compared to previous published ... Among the pictures released, this was more than satisfied me. But then, in an area "clean " in the neighborhood is rising, is one of the few places in NY that could be done a super tall building with large proportions. Of course this is my wish and some more ... But let's remember that there can be a building of gigantic proportions over the railroad tracks (even with the platform upon him). Of course, considering the economy and investors, We should be happy with what will be built.
