15 Hudson Yards (Culture Tower) looks totally the same - no changes except increase in height to 870ft

aesthetically I can't say I like this design of 35 HY as much as the old one. The added height is a plus though.

View from the South

50 HY is definitely a supertall. Looks to be close to 1,200ft if 30 HY is 1,255 ft tall

Tower on the left is 50 HY (Mc D's) and on the Right is 55 HY (extell)

View from the West

If you compare the height of 15 HY (Culture) and 55 HY (Extell), it looks like 55 HY is aprox 800ft In height is 15 HY is 870ft.

33rd street view looking East between 35 HY and 55 HY

I just left. It looks great. I suspect that the McD's tower will evolve over time. It has a series of setbacks like Steinway and appears to be 1,150'.

The "realtor tower" on the prairie, that no one seems to know about other than the "realtors" should turn out this well!

Has anyone found out whether the north tower has definitely been shortened or not?

It was shortened to 1,255 but looks identical to the slightly taller version, and it's amazing. The "realtor tower" should turn out this well (assuming that anyone other than the "realtors" ever finds out about it!)

The Mcdonalds site tower looks enormous. Too bad they wont build it more up instead of out.

The McD's site is very tenuous and likely will change considerably. My guess is that Related will build a huge retail base at the site before it builds the tower. Related would need a commitment for at least 1m sf before it builds a 2msf+ spec tower on the McD site. They still have 1m sf to lease at the North Tower, and if 3 WTC starts construction, it will have around 1.5m sf to lease net of WPP, not to mention, the new tower at Astor PlAce has several hundred thousands of sf of empty space, and there's about 1.5m sf of empty space at 1 and 2 WTC. I don't think that the McD tower will rise any time soon (as with MW and 2 WTC), so I'd happily take a full-block retail site now to occupy that blighted block. Who knows what the actual tower will look like and how tall it will be when it's finally built.

Can't wait to swing by and check it all out next week! I agree with the sentiment expressed by some that shortening the North Tower seems to take away some of the focal point of the project. But, I have to say that the other revelations are quite nice: The McD's site tower is very cool, albeit probably preliminary, and although I'm disappointed about losing the setbacks in the Equinox Tower, the textural cladding looks great.

I wish they'd mock up some placeholders for Phase II, and the rest of Hudson Blvd. It would help to sell the "pivoting corridor" concept of the site plan which is a little lost without the other buildings.

Let's not forget that there's another supertall site north of the McD site too.

I see they didn't bother to include the existing subway vent into the model for 55 HY. Aside from that, looks awesome! I'm much less disappointed with the height reduction after seeing a physical model.

Thanks for the pictures VG!

Supertalls in The Hudson Yards district:

30 Hudson Yards: 1,255 feet
50 Hudson Yards: 1,150+/- feet
The GiraSole: 1,060 feet
35 Hudson Yards: 1,000 feet

Nowhere else on the planet, save Dubai (but they look ugly) has a cluster with that amount of supertalls!

And we already have downtown and Midtown!

Only in New York City! The World Capital!

Robert, what do you mean by the "realtor" tower? Is this the Wanda tower? Shvo tower? Or are those three separate potential supertalls?!?!?!

There's 2 buildings in this render which I haven't seen before, I assume atleast the smaller one on the left is phase 2?

yea Stig! That is phase 2. I don't see 2 buildings but I see one.

That is prolly depicting the West Tower planned for offices marked on the map below. It looks to be the same height as 55 HY which could be around 800 + ft.

In New York, we're approaching 25 supertalls completed, U/C or realistic proposals! Add in mystery towers, possible height increases and empty lots with tons of air rights and there's probably 35 supertalls right there. Absolutely mind blowing!! At this rate by 2050 New York will be the "City of 100 Supertalls!"

I don't like the height drop but for another supertall added to the tally, I'm content with the change

I'm not. New York has enough >400 m. supertalls. Even the original one looked a little short to me, I would have preferred something between 1400-1500 ft. A landmark is needed for this development, not a plateau.
