God damn 2 hudson is disappointing. They did exactly what I didn't want, a modern 55 water street.

It will change over time. That tower is years from being built.

Sure but it is clear that they intend to build an extremely efficient fat box. I can't believe that the overall massing will change into a 1 wtc or 30 hudson shape.

Unless they put residential on top or something totally different.

So here we go ... possible new height figures for the Hudson Yards development:

30 Hudson Yards (North Tower): 1,255ft (383m) (old: 1,337ft (408m) )
35 Hudson Yards (Equinox / E Tower): 1,000ft (305m) (old: 950ft (290m) )
15 Hudson Yards (Culture / D Tower): 914ft (279m)
10 Hudson Yards (Coach / South Tower): 895ft (273m)
50 Hudson Yards (McD site / 2 Hudson Blvd): ~1150ft (350m)
55 Hudson Yards (1 Hudson Blvd / former WPC site): ~850ft (259m)

The site really needs a signature tower, about 1,500 - 1,700ft. I could even live with a spire.

Note: at this moment nothing's confirmed yet.

The more I look at the whole sight, the more disappointed I am that there's no tall dominating tower. The North Tower's beauty is not fully recognized even cancelled out with towers that tall next to it.

This development really has become a disappointment the past couple of days. The signature tower was shortened and fattened, Equinox lost its setback appeal, and 1 and 2 Hudson (especially 1 Hudson) are monstrous banal boxes. This went from possibly the best development plan in the world to almost mediocre. It seems like with many current developments in New York the developers are only interested in the short term gain. Economic factors are the most important aspect of a development, but it would be nice if developers could forego a little bit of profit in order to make the city more pleasing to the eye.

Looks like the plaza lost some of the interesting landscaping that had been planned earlier. Cheap ass developers.

Cheap? Ross is spending $75m+ just on the sculpture. The empty area is where the sculpture will be.

With this project, NY once again dominates the greatest developments in America by far. Most cities would be drooling just to have one of its projects (e.g., Verre, Steinway, etc.).

Some fun facts from the FB page:

Quote:
Did you know that more than half of the 26-acres at Hudson Yards will be dedicated to open public space?
Quote:
Did you know that when 10 Hudson Yards is complete it will have enough enclosed space to hold the helium for every balloon that has appeared in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade?
Fun facts will be posted there every Friday, so be sure to check tomorrow!

I am a little dissapointed with the height reduction, but for all we know it might change again. Still a great tower, and a good height.

Interesting article ... and look what the CTBUH used as a render!

New York’s New Delirium

Quote:
NEW YORK CITY – In the city where the “death of the skyscraper” was proclaimed 12 years ago, today, nothing could be further from the truth. CTBUH Editor Daniel Safarik reports on his journey to investigate further, meeting with some of the most influential developers behind the booming scene.

Since the turn of the decade, the pace of new construction in New York City can be split into two large categories: large planned developments and super-slim luxury residential infill. In both cases, developers and designers are pushing the limits of zoning, below-ground infrastructure and skyward structural engineering.

At least five once-in-a-lifetime multi-acre projects are underway in the city.
[...]
And we should be grateful.

How tall do you expect each to be?

Thanks!
