How tall do you think those towers will be, Robert?

This beautiful young woman is at the display to answer questions. She doesn't know much about the project, but she's very attractive and very sweet.

Thanks for the report (& photo).

Were there any employees there who were knowledgeable about the project?

No. Nonetheless, it's a great exhibit.

Exhibit and ~current reality

Thx. If the weather is decent this week I might go see the exhibit & also check the reality at the East Rail Yard/ 10 HY site.

In the meantime, I've snipped the relevant section of a 11/22 panorama by themodulorman to show some of the utilities that will have to be relocated for the 30 HY foundation start.

One of the specific utilities, I assume, is all the conduit at the electrical substation that is attached to the privacy wall on 33rd st. i'm also assuming that ramp up to 33rd st will retained or rebuilt to provide vehicle access to the white bldg & substations when 30 HY is built over them.

I'm also assuming that the first foundations for the overbuild platform will be going in someplace in the exposed soil in the foreground, some of which is hidden by the remaining section of the LIRR MoE bldg.

35 Hudson Yards (Equinox / E Tower): 1,000ft (305m) (old: 950ft (290m) )
15 Hudson Yards (Culture / D Tower): 914ft (279m)
10 Hudson Yards (Coach / South Tower): 895ft (273m)
50 Hudson Yards (McD site / 2 Hudson Blvd): ~1150ft (350m)
55 Hudson Yards (1 Hudson Blvd / former WPC site): ~850ft (259m)
To put these numbers in human-scale perspective: if we define "1337" as being "Yao Ming height", then North Tower was reduced from Yao's height to about Shaquille O'Neal's height, while 50 HY might be Michael Jordon's stature. Equinox grew from 5'4" (average woman) to 5'7".

1337 = 7'6" (2.29m)
1255 = 7'0.5" (2.15)
1150 = 6'5.5" (1.97)
1000 = 5'7" (1.71)
950 = 5'4" (1.62)
914 = 5'1.5" (1.56)
895 = 5' (1.53)
850 = 4'9" (1.45)

Or if we define the average man and "1255" as being 5'10" (1.78m), then 30 HY was reduced by 4.5" from 6'2.5" (1.89m).

Of course these relative height differences among these buildings won't be as noticeable as the differences in a room full adults and teenagers getting autographs from several retired NBA players, because these buildings will be surrounded by so many "babies".

Phase II goes from 2018-2025 or so? How tall will those eight towers average? Between 700-1,000ft? And what of the Girasole? Where is that going?

Moinian -- not Related -- is the Girasole's developer. He needs a tenant commitment of around 300k sf before he can proceed. He'll start as soon as he gets such a tenant.

Thanks and I did see that in the other topic I brought it up that Related doesn't own the site, so not really a part of HY. I did think I read once or twice that it's being considered to be moved from all commercial to residential, at least in part. Any real possibility of that, and is a height of 1,200-1,300ft too high to speculate about for that project?

It's mixed use (around 1.1m sf office and 500k sf residential).

If, as speculated, Related buys Alloy's site and combines it with its adjacent parcel, that will exceed 300m too. Also, the site of the formerly proposed Javits Convention Center Hotel should exceed 300m.

Yea I forgot about the potential of the Alloy site.

Is there a thread for that Javits Hotel site?

I don't think so, but it's mentioned in the NYT article re: the HY that I had posted.
