Sounds like a lot of progress for steel: any photos?

I think we have a shortage of photos of this site with the loss of j-biz to the outer boros and the POSSIBLE loss of flickr's hardcoreshutterbug to the LIRR's Shea Yard.

Anybody have any photos from this week of the site?

These are all I have from some friends. I have been meaning to take a trip down there to snap some of my own. Hopefully this weekend I will

Here are some photos I took today. Haven't seen the 18 in so long and forgot really how massive it was, seen it from the West side highway and just the size of the boom looks huge, even from there. I kinda got chased away by the security for getting the close up shots, got out of there just in time. First picture is of one of the beams, my buddy transported it and grossed out a 160k pounds.

I still oppose the recladding of 450 West 33rd St, I love it the way it is. I wonder if it was the inspiration for The Index in Dubai.

So this tower itself is starting construction soon or just the base?

I ASSUME the caisson foundations for 30 HY will start soon.

A number of 325ccr's posted photos show the caisson drill that has been on the north side of the tracks for a while, along with the relatively recently arrived BIG red crane.

For example this photo, looking SE from 33rd st, with the yellow caisson drill at photo right. A good portion of 30 HY will be built above the LIRR's white electrical substation/control "tower" (photo left) :

325ccr www.heavytruckphotos.com

These photos show how complex the overall site is starting to get.

There are two other similar caisson drills south of the tracks (also captured in his photos); they have been drilling caisson foundations for the overbuild platform that is already apparently starting to go up above the remains of the LIRR MoE building.

It starts construction next year according to their official chart. The base should be complete by the end of this year though:

Hope you are right! I am eagerly anticipating the tower LordArthurWellesley said would be forthcoming this month!

So from what I have gathered it sounds like this mystery tower is shvo's 22 Thames. But shvojob has posted that 1,400 is short indicating that there is something that renders 1,400' relatively short. I can't imagine that 22 Thames will become taller than that. So that leaves the possibility of the 100 floor "shvo tower". But I have been wrong many times before.

22 Thames is not the mystery "Shvo Tower". The mystery tower quoted by the Shvo man himself said that 100+ story tower is near Central Park.

Yea I know I was just assuming that if the skepticism of Lord Arthur Wealsly coming back as shvo is true he must have a reason to choose Shvo. And judging by his recent posts Shvo is about to reveale something groundbreaking. Do you think 22 Thames has the capability of becoming this super tower?

22 Thames is not the tower LordArthurWellesley was talking about.

22 Thames w/o a doubt will be a super tall. Vinoly's proposal for 22 Thames was at a planned height of aprox 960'. The Shvo presser mentioned that he will build luxury and on a narrower footprint so there will be no where to go but higher.

22 Thames also doesn't have an height limit so Shvo could build as high as possible w/o making the tower appear anemic.

The Svho man needs to acquire more development rights or as Lord Wellesly suggested which is plausible is to partner up with Chetrit whom owns the adjacent site to 22 Thames and build a respectable and heftier supertall. That would be ideal and hope that scenario plays out. Perhaps as tall as 1 WTC??

It's either re-clad that building, or hit it with JDAMs.
