The Perini Liebherr 1280 is being removed-it was working in in the site since 1/14 along with the other 1280 and the Manitowoc 14000. They are being replaced with the tower cranes, now that much of the decking steel has been placed.
The interesting crane is the Liebher tower, being erected at the Coach building, possibly to replace the north Comedil, which is inside the building.

i thought it was west, northeast, and south?

I know they will be moving them around as the building slopes.

I thought the retail was going to be done with crawlers?

Do mean the LR1250? I had figured that was being put on top of the platform. Also, you mean 18000, right?

related isnt going to let 10 go to one tower crane because they are so far behind schedule. the internal climber leaves after 32nd floor.

IT's SPRING now, in NY, NY

You can peruse themodulorman's low-res panoramas for progress:

3/13/2015
Looking north from 10HY - the base of 30HY will be below the structure sticking out from 10 HY at top ~right and also BEHIND that section of 10HY:

3/13/2015: Looking south from the old Coach buidling on 33rd st. Base of 30 HY will be at bottom:

AND the HYNY FB page posted 3/13/12015 this ground level shot looking east

And the text implies (to me) that the really heavy lifting for the 30HY trusses is over:

This week we said farewell to Joanie, our red Manitowoc 18000 crane. Since joining us nearly a year ago, Joanie has moved 5 million pounds of steel and helped the platform construction get underway. Before she left, Joanie made sure we were in good hands and spent a few weeks building Charlie, a white Favco 1280 tower crane with a lifting capacity of 100 tons and a reach of more than 120 feet. Charlie is already hard at work, literally picking up where Joanie left off. He plans to stay with us until October when the entire Eastern Yard platform will be complete.

First day of spring: high resolution photo from KJBO

This one is looking east from the "High Line at the Rail Yards". He has other Hudson yards photos on his flickr page. The actual 30 HY site is behind (east of) the new white tower crane. You can access the native 5560 x3707 resolution of the photo below at the flickr page

3/21/2015 looking east from the "High Line at the Rail Yards" @ ~32nd street. In the center of the photo it looks to me as though Tutor-Perinni has another big yellow crane (with boom horizontal) on the overbuild platform itself (or on the 11th Ave viaduct). The overall Eastern Rail Yard should be quite a bee-hive of construction soon, especially with the end of this LONG winter's snows.

I predict the pace will keep up for the next few decades. The real estate market in NYC is still super hot, and the only option is to build higher (or in this case on top of things...)

Decades... Don't know, the real estate market is super hot for dubious reasons. I think we better enjoy it while it lasts.

Due to NYC's History of building cycles, I'm optimistic about this one will las a while

Is Hudson Yards the going to be built over the railway yards or are they still going to be the same? If so, any plans for the railway yard?

All of the railways will be covered, but still functional.

Cool! Thanks for answering. That's a lot of extra area space for Manhattan.

I'd say we will see the tower rising pretty soon. Looks like they are almost done with the platform

Good project. They should have done that a long time ago.
