I thought the retail was going to be done with crawlers?
NW, SW, NE are on internal climber system.
SE will be on external climber.
Retail will be freestanding only.

The podium will likely start with crawlers on the platform, but at some point the TC will be installed. The retail covers a large area (larger than Tower A or Tower C), so 3 hooks can definitely be used...

Awesome. Finally some real good overviews of the site.
Looks like they are piling. SHould take a while before this one rises though.

They are still caission drilling in the 30 HY site. But they definitely have a crawler crane (left, yellow)on the retail podium.

As far as I know the upper story of the LIRR building in bottom left corner has to be removed before they overbuild the LIRR structure. Most important, they have to build a replacement switch-yard control room BEFORE they remove that upper floor which houses the 1980s vintage control room.

Nice photos, I assume taken from the existing Coach Building.

yerp!

I took the liberty of snipping a 30HY only section from the JamesPolk original. From his angle in the old Coach Building it looks to me as though they have NOT finished bridging the throat of the yards (the few tracks under 10th Ave that connect the LIRR WSSY to the Penn Station bathtub):

Just wanted to say the same . Until now i couldn't say anything about the progress in the pics because they didn't give us a view from above.

And i agree, it'll still take some time until we see the core rising.

As it looks to me, this construction site is still very far from going "vertical".

Nice point of view! This tower will be a stunner. Somehow I feel that this tower is kind of underappreciated especially with all the amazing projects currently going up in the city.

Well, I much prefer these towers to all the pencil-thin 'Billionaire-only' buildings going up. This'll add some east-west balance to Mid-town which has scrapers all the way to the UN building, but nothing much on the other side...until now.

This will be a massive building. It won't go unnoticed when topped out.

When Javits is eventually redeveloped, I'd ideally like to see this site be converted to a park and the air rights be transferred.
