NEW YORK | 30 Hudson Yards - Manhattan Tower | 387m | 1268ft | 73 fl | U/C

That crane was always supposed to erect up to the 23rd level of the tower, however it had to be dismantled and re-supported on the 10th floor in order to complete all the work and installation of mechanical equipment below 10. This is why the crane was dismantled, sent back for maintenance and re-erected.
The south crane on the East side will be dismantled soon, probably next month.

I wouldn't say that the steel structure is easier given the size of the steel, connections and welds to be performed. The footprint of the tower is also bigger. However, steel construction is faster because there is no time for concrete curing, re-shoring and moving formwork. The steel erector also has 4 cranes (+1 for retail) whereas 10HY started with only 2 (and they had various issues along the way...).

they are not the same, but they are similar. Also, there are considerably less nodes as they get to the standard column lines for the tower.

Amazon set to rival NYC’s bookstores with Hudson Yards spot
http://nypost.com/2016/07/03/amazon-...on-yards-spot/

Quote:
Amazon is planning to open a brick-and-mortar bookstore and cafe in Manhattan as it pushes deeper into a market it has come to dominate, The Post has learned.

Amazon Books is slated to open in Hudson Yards, the massive retail, commercial and residential space developed by Related Cos. and Oxford Properties Group, sources tell The Post.

“I don’t know if the final lease was signed yet, but I know the deal is happening,” one source said. “There’s no way that deal is dying.”

The Hudson Yards stores are projected to open in late 2018 or early 2019, a second source said.

It would be the first East Coast store planned by the giant e-tailer. The launch store opened last year in an upscale mall in Seattle, the company’s headquarters. Amazon was so secretive about that deal it was code-named Project Anne.

Hi Everyone! I've been a long time lurker on SSC. I used to take photos for my own consumption, occasionally posted on wiredny. This is my first post here. Took a bunch of photos yesterday; looking to share once I hit the magic number

What are those stacks of cubes near the yards about? I have never seen them before. Are they new, or were they always there?
