A McDonald's with a parking lot has no place in Manhattan. Good riddance!

Does anybody else remember when 10 HY wasn't even a hole in the ground yet and Related hosted a beer garden under the High Line at 30th and 10th? That was a fun summer.

They should have kept that area under the High Line at 30th and 10th a ground level extension of the Park instead of putting up that condo that's there now ... its so bland and obstructive ..

This thing is going to be huge, not just height wise but in footprint it's just immense!

A New Colossus Rises: KPF's 30 Hudson Yards Begins its 90-Story Climb

A New Colossus Rises: KPF's 30 Hudson Yards Begins its 90-Story Climb
Today, August 4, 2016
https://www.cityrealty.com/nyc/marke...ory-climb/4924

Quote:
The tallest tower of the immense Hudson Yards megaproject, 30 Hudson Yards, is steadily rising on the southwest corner of 33rd Street and Tenth Avenue. Upon completion, the 90 story 1,296-foot-tall supertall skyscraper will be the 2nd tallest office building in New York, taller than even than the Empire State Building, which is 1,250 feet without its spire. The tower's glass cladding is already visible on its lower levels and as of mid-July, the building the building was already making its way past its 15th floor. Developers Related Companies and Oxford Properties have already fully leased the tower's 2.6 million square feet building's space with a tenant list that includes Time Warner, KKR, Related, Oxford, and Wells Fargo Securities, and Time Warner.

Get the "roof height" trolls out of news sites. It's a lot shorter than ESB.

Wait what?

This building is taller than Empire State, so definitely not "a lot" shorter. The fact that ESB gets so narrow after ~1050 feet will make this one even more impactful in comparison.

Any idea when they're going to unveil the $200 million sculpture centerpiece?

The Empire State Building is something like 1476ft or so to the top of the antennae- I imagine that was what he was making reference to, perhaps sarcastically.
This will definitely have an enormous skyline impact from the Hudson River- it will appear much larger than ESB.

He's referring to the pinnacle height of 1454 feet, which includes the antenna. Even though the Council on Tall Building and Urban Habitat (the closest thing we have to an official arbiter for these sorts of thing) lists ESB by its architectural height of 1250.

Yea I figured that out right after I posted but it's still not that much taller, not even 200 feet. Plus this thing is massive like I said, ESB is massive until just over 1050 feet.

I'm not a fan of the design or the height but good for new York they get another supertall. Why cant Jersey get a new tallest?

Just imagine how massive it wil look on that last pic when completed! ESB will certainly be dwarfed from that angle.
