It's true, here on SSC we are speaking about vertical structures and for a minute we forget how important the streets and public places actually are, and how much they contribute in how we perceive cities. In those terms Chicago always appeared superior compared to other cities, judging from photos of course.

that entirely depends where you are in the city, though.

The whole Hudson Yards project looks like a small cities own downtown.
Think about it. It would be like the downtown of a city of 500k. This project is so so giant and I LOVE IT.

I feel bad though for the people living in the buildings behind the Yards towers for losing their view of lower Manhattan. It must suck for them xD
But the show must go on

Then they will loose the views and more towers will pop up and more and at some point, Manhattan will be so saturated with towers, that you wont see the horizone and the rivers anymore.

In the last pic above, what's the older multi-level building in the foreground? I've seen it in other shots and it looks interesting.

There's a whole bunch of them, but you might be thinking of the Starrett-Lehigh Building.

I don't know the name of the building, but at some point some other user would probably share the name and the address, however I don't think it's an old building, if I'm not wrong I remember watching photo updates of its construction process.
