I always liked the Chrysler Building more its a shame it didn't rise any higher a masterpiece even by todays standards while the ESB looks outdaded...Its Elegance versus Beast mode in my opinion .

ESB is a classic, and the most renowned skyscraper in history. It's hardly "outdated".

There are 5 floors between the last set-back and the Skydeck level. They are currently working on that 5th floor, so it should be really close
The observation deck will not be constructed right away because another crane is needed to handle some of the picks for the truss members of the obs deck. That new crane will go back on the setback beginning of January 2018: the crane currently on site will complete as much of the structure as possible, then second crane will be brought in to help with the observation deck, remove the first crane and complete the crown.

Great Finds Streetscapeer! But a question: are these diagrams accurate? CTBUH lists the top floor as 341 meters (observation deck) but these renders show that even the top of the building will be occupied. Is this the case? If it is that would be AMAZING!

The image above is a cross-section, showing the central elevator shaft in the middle...

I believe those are outdated diagrams, showing an earlier plan for an exclusive event space at the tip of the tower, accessible by a second elevator from the observation deck lounge. As far as I know, those plans have been scrapped (there’s no mention of it on the 30 HY website and the images of it have been removed).

I love the tallness, but the shadow is definitely there.

For reference, 1WTC's shadow is halfway across the Hudson and marks the spot where Sully's plane ended up after he safely landed it on the water.

Beautiful picture! Nice job. Without that logo it would be perfect for my HD NY wallpaper collection.. But I'll take it anyway. (if it's ok to you..)

Oddly, Midtown seems to have way less skyscrapers than in actuality, when viewed from these perspectives
