Good idea, that aerial really puts the project into perspective.

All I see is space, space and space! So I say build, build and build!!
This aerial photo also shows how the west side of Midtown, which now is largely industrial, is poised for redevelopment.

No way!! Hells Kitchen is a classic NY tenement neighborhood... it should definitely not be torn down for high rises -- in fact it can't because it was downzoned when Hudson Yards was upzoned.

It looks like the buildings between MSG and 42nd St are low rises, but they're actually in the 15 to 30 story range. Also, they're beautiful prewar towers. This area is Class C office space, but with a little TLC, these towers could be magnificent.

There will be a mixed-use tower adjacent to the Hudson Yards Towers, probably over 1000 feet tall...
The residential tower in front of the mixed- use one is about 800 feet...

What a development!!

Has the south tower had a decrease in height or is that just the angle of the photo?!

nope, those are actually two towers on the Yards; the smaller ~800ft residential and the 1000ft+ mixed use tower
The South Office Tower and the Residential will be started first.

NYguy SSP

in this render you can see it more clearly

alright guys so speaking generally towards the development.

Perini is basically bringing in their entire Las Vegas building team. They are going to self perform every trade through their wholly owned subcontractors in New York City. This is a first. A big project for a first. Also, it appears that they will bring in their steel buddys from out west, Schuff. Apparently it is pretty much a done deal.

There are quite a few skeptics out there about how Perini will do on a major development in a city where they have never worked (major work), that has historically operated under the Construction Management --> Subcontractors business model.

I forsee the construction being either a turning point in NYC building, or a colossal cluster****.

Building in New York really requires a lot of finesse and teamwork.

Maybe they will be able to break the hold and problems caused by the construction trades for most NYC buildings! That would certainly be a good thing!
