That square is fantastic. I hope this will get much attention to the west side.

That square is not even what will be built. Ross has stated in the media (e.g., the NY Mag article) that he will commission a classical fountain which, in his words, will be NY's Trevi Fountain. That plaza rendering is a mere "place holder."

I think we're just starting to see the domino effect, myself and others predicted would happen. The passing of the election certainly helped, but the looming fiscal cliff is probably overshadowing the passing of the election. Again, mainly I think it's just that there are a lot of companies out there looking for new space, and only so much new space available, especially at this price point.

After the North Tower here gets a big anchor tenant, which it almost sounds like it does, I wouldn't be surprised to see another big office building get an anchor tenant, like 3 WTC or One Hudson Yards. Companies will see the supply of new space at somewhat below market rents, at least for brand new office space, start to get eaten up and they'll want to make sure they're one of the ones that does get space in one of the new towers, as opposed to renewing their expiring leases in a 30+ year old building.

Just wait untill all the other nearby stuff gets going and even this will seem like a small piece in the West Manhattan puzzle.

Girasole - 1050ft-+1400ft
Manhattan West - (configuration unknown, but the site has 5,6MSF of air rights)
Sherwood Equities tower - +1000ft
One Hudson Yards - +1000ft
360 10th Avenue - 800ft-+900ft
514 11th Avenue - +800ft
450 Hudson Boulevard - ~800ft
And a whole bunch of other stuff that we don't know about yet like 33rd and 10th avenue, which has the most generous zoning in the entire area and could yield another +1500ft tower for New York in addition to 225 W57th.

Now that I think of it, it would be awesome if somebody added all of that to this rendering to get an idea of what this area will be like when the year is 2022.

From the correct angle it will look like a couple of obelisks. Damned clever architects.

The good thing is, when projects like this, and all the other new midtown biggies are being built. No NIMBY in a community board can use the "oh itīs taller then the Empire State Building" bullshit anymore. Finally the day has come, when the ESB will be overshadowed by taller buildings. I for myself canīt wait for the day, when one will have to seek it in skyline pics.

Wish one of these buildings was a stadium for the NY Jets.

But, with that said... what a great addition to a great city.

The North Tower will have the second highest floor in New York if it beats 225 W 57. This is such an amazing project!

The city swapped a sports arena for a center of culture, recreation and commerce. (Plus a supertall with an observation deck!) A fair trade I think.

I haven't been following this, so I hope this isn't a dumb question. Does this project also include a new Madison Square Garden?

If it is built as the renders show, its going to be better than the WTC complex, I think...

I added Sherwood, Manhattan West, and Girasole's old renders. (beefed them up in terms of height too)

Just think these renders are outdated and will likely have to be improved to compete with the rest of the city. Toss in Penn 15 and One Hudson plus 225 looming in the background. Ridiculous! So dense! Only NYC!

I did say "one of those buildings"... though a stadium takes up far more space than a skyscraper. What's done is done. Can't wait to see this built. I can see the NYC skyline from my bedroom window here in Rutherford, NJ. I'll get a good look of this project considering it's location on the Hudson River.

good job, looks amazing. I hope that a supertall will in fact come out of Manhattan West and that One Hudson Yards will be a supertall. As predicted, the West side is going to be a forest of massive towers.

I must say girasole looks really good in that mash-up. I honestly never cared much for its design before.
