I thought the tallest tower was the 1337 north tower?

That's on the actual HY site. This is adjacent to it.

There aren't any impending plans for that site, just a site that will eventually get developed right?

And I'd much rather see 545 W 34th St landmarked.

Related, to my knowledge, has no plans yet, but in ten years, this area will be established, and it will likely build an iconic 400m+ supertower that will generate rents of around $100+ in today's money.

That historic building would be beautiful if it wasn't for all those hideously scattered windows on its side.

Why not clear out the garage-looking thing next to it?

That will be gone too. That site also has a lot of air rights.

Sorry I couldn't get any pictures, I've been spending some time at the site but my phone is acting up, and not letting me upload photos. There is a lot of work being done as we speak. almost a dozen new machinery on site of the Coach tower drilling and piling up the dirt. Parts of the rails are being closed off and multiple workers are working almost every day. I will try to get pictures tomorrow in the afternoon. Meanwhile, right across the street, 500 West 30th street has finished their first floor and is continuing to climb to its 32 stories.

The Coach site, which can accommodate a 2.5m sf tower, sits right next to Sherwood Equities 2.5m sf parcel on W 34th St. Sherwood needs a partner to build. If they choose Related, Perhaps Related can develop 400m + twin towers here.

Parcels with this much buildable sf really don't exist in Midtown or by Wall St. Moreover, any such site in those locations would probably have at least ten smaller buildings on the site with potentially hundreds of tenants who would have to be bought out. In the Yards, these sites consist of warehouses and parking lots that can be developed immediately.

I didn't know that Coach current HQ is just across the street from the future HY North Tower!

And yes, it is clear that that building is doomed, along with all others in that area, since it would redeveloped as part of the Hudson Boulevard.

Coach bought that building a few years ago. It's huge. It goes all the way to 34th St.

I have to agree. Architectural diversity is good especially with NYC's mix of old and new styles, but this area of the west side is going to be redeveloped and this site should be modernized along with it.

I said the same thing in my write-up.

The reason? Same architect! It's like an evolved Trump Tower. The resemblance is definitely there but I don't think those familiar with architecture would catch it. SOM is fantastic.

(good job btw )

I like that one as well. Would be nice to have a spire on its top, like Trump Chicago.

As did I. They're both by SOM, so the family resemblance is clear.
