Why does this project have such a goofy name? The Sharp? What is a sharp? Why do Korean buildings have such odd names?

I think it's a company name, We've The Zenith already was a weird name but it was two company names and that name and this one probably look okay in Korean.

Korean residential projects usually do have weird-looking names indeed.

There are a bunch of large Korean construction company, and each one uses one main brand name :
- POSCO : The Sharp
- Doosan : We'Ve
- Samsung C&T : Raemian
- Hyundai E&C : Hillstate
- Hyundai Development Company : I'Park
- Lotte : Castle
- Daewoo : Prugio
- GS : Xi
- Daelim : e-Convenient World
- SK : View
...

Some companies even have a second brand, usually for its luxury apartments (used in addition or instead of the "regular" brand).

For example, Doosan has "We'Ve The Zenith", Daelim builds most high-end apartments under the "Acro" brand.

So the name can get pretty tricky, especially since some of the companies (in addition to the brand) also frequently in the title.

Apartments by Lotte are always "Lotte Castle" and not just "Castle", and projects by Doosan are usually called "Doosan We'Ve", rather than just "We'Ve"...

And then, you have to patch up the name of the location to the name (name of the city, district, nearby river or whatever... in the case, the "Haeundae" beach), and frequently prestigious-sounding English loan words such as well, such as "Palace" "Honors" "Gold" "The First"...

So yeah, the names can be a mess... But these brands are actually known by Koreans and they carry a lot of prestige because when people tell their address, it's very easy to know if they live in high-end appartments or not.

simply, it's because the brand name is just FOR Korean Consumer
it's fully okay if the name sounds great to korean ears, that's the idea of the construction company.

In 1990~2000 we usally use pure korean name like jungdeun-maul, yonwon-maul maul means villiage, jungdeun means affection but someday samsung start use another style name "reamian" and then suddenly change the trend of apartment name.

Is there another urban beach in the world that could match this skyline?
Most of the urban areas in the world are built near water sources, and a number of them have beaches.

Regardless, I really look forward to seeing these rise. Busan really needs a proper height supertall. (We've the Zenith is barely a supertall.)

^ Wreck beach and Spanish banks in Vancouver are fine, but no match to Haeundae for the scrapers thus. Not even close!

But I certainly wouldn't mind if Haeundae would have a clothing-optional section as they do in Wreck beach. This would make for an even better view
