I recognise that monolith kinda thing, so this is right around the corner of Hudson Yards and Manhattan West, right?

It will be interesting to see where McCourt's next project will be.

Assuming that 360 10th is residential and hotel, it should be at least 900 feet tall.

Yep, it's on the NE corner of 31st and 10th.

360 Tenth will rise on the green patch of grass to the right of the soon to be recladded 450 West 33rd.

360 Tenth would be across 10th ave from Related's 10 Hudson Yards (Coach) in the pic below

Sorry for the bump, but I was just thinking about this project.

This has 730,000 sf for development and I'm really looking forward to see what MCourt will do here.

I think easily we'll see a 950' + tower here.

Below is a proposal for this site in the past when I believe Extell owned this site. The tower was proposed to have 70 floors and was designed by Steven Holl.

A great location as a gateway to Hudson Yards... definitely with that much space available and building fairly lean 900-just touching supertall at 1,000 is likely for maximum use of the value of this site. Just so many towers to contemplate, not only the supertalls(or the possible plus 1,500 ft megatall Hudson Spire site) but a good number of 700-just under 1,000 ft. Amazing time to be watching the skyline keep soaring and being reinvented.... it's going to be a breathtaking ride!

with the news on 470 11th, 514 11th, Manhattan West and the Hudson Spire Site I wouldn't be surprised if we heard about something here soon. The Hudson Yards is abuzz with realty activity.

This tower folks will be a doozy!!

McCourt Partners up with Hines and has hired SHoP Architects to design this whopping $3 Billion tower.

Frank McCourt brings in Hines on $3B Tenth Ave. project SHoP Architects will design 733,000 sf mixed-use building in Hudson Yards area
http://therealdeal.com/blog/2014/09/....fFylBB4n.dpuf

Quote:
Frank McCourt’s MG Properties has brought in Hines as an equity and development partner on 360 Tenth Avenue, a $3 billion, 733,000-square-foot mixed-use project on the Far West Side.

The developer also announced that SHoP Architects will design the project. McCourt, the former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, made his New York real estate debut with the acquisition of the site last year for $167 million, more than three times what seller Sherwood Equities and Long Wharf Real Estate Partners paid in 2011.

The deal is one of the biggest bets yet on the Hudson Yards neighborhood. “We are very pleased to have the world-class team at Hines join us on 360 Tenth,” Drew McCourt, president of MG Properties, said in a statement.

“The addition of SHoP’s creativity and innovation is a significant enhancement to the project as we look to blend the residential, retail, and commercial elements into an architecturally-significant addition to the North Chelsea/Hudson Yards neighborhood.” Vishaan Chakrabarti, a partner at SHoP, said in a statement that the firm hoped to “create a building that evokes the best of historic Chelsea while making a strong contemporary addition to the skyline.”

Hines’ executive Tommy Craig said that the firm welcomed “the opportunity to expand our development work into the heart of Manhattan’s fastest growing new neighborhood.” The Houston-based firm’s other notable projects in New York include a 471,000-square-foot office tower at 7 Bryant Park and the 1,050-foot-tall Jean-Nouvel designed 53W53
This one will be very nice! Almost Just as expensive to build as the $3.2 B Hudson Spire .

Cheers Cheers!

I have a hard time believing this won't be at least 1000 feet.

I agree. 750k sf is a lot for a residential, and this plot is tiny.

You know there is another project located just across the street from Brookfield's 5 Manhattan West that could potentially flirt with Supertall status too.

It's a relatively small plot that was sold by the PA to Dermot Co located at 435 W 33rd that has 540k square feet for development. They would have to build a platform over the Dyer Ave to build the tower and I believe condos are planned for that site.

$3bn for this? :O

This has to be way over 1,000 feet tall! I mean, why would they spend so much on a residential tower, if many of the views will get blocked by the Manhatten West towers? To solve that,, build higher!

ShoP are designing it, so this has me excited!

SHoP is unstoppable. I wouldn't be surprised if this wound up rivaling 30 HY and the potential 1200-foot 2 MW in terms of height (although obviously not in mass). And given the cost, SHoP's stellar record, and McCourt's desire to make a splash with his first Manhattan development, I'd wager this will be the best looking of the Far West cluster when all is said and done.

When the architect says they want to evoke the best of historical Chelsea, any ideas about what direction they'll take this in? Something a little industrial? Maybe we'll see some brick?

Also, I hope they take the opportunity to make a direct connection to the High Line spur. The breezeway at 5 MW doesn't seem like it will make a connection, but this tower will be literally yards from the end of the Spur.

I agree, Marshall. A supertall masterpiece here forces Related to hit a home run with the E Tower.
