Wow! I've never noticed that side of the AIG - that's horrendous.

Why is that there, elevator shafts? It doesn't look like it has any windows.

That part of AIG has always been visible, at least the top part, since Ritz was a shorter building.

This is going to be a special thread. We are not just tracking the construction of the new building going up (in the future), but also the demolition of the old building that is coming down. There aren't much of this thread around, I think.

How about the one on the other side of AIG? That one's an eyesore!

Quite amazing that 2 tall projects will soon emerge side-by-side, although BoC might not be blocked as badly as initially thought. The view from the Star Ferry route to Central will likely be diminished, but from TST it should be fine.

Is there anything concrete planned for the Ritz site, in terms of height?

I haven't seen renderings yet. Once I find them will likely move this thread to the Highrises section instead of proposed.

Nothing on the Ritz-Carlton demolition as of January 2009.Also I did a search on Flickr and found out that a 13 story building used to occupy the site before the Ritz-Carlton Hotel was built.
