Demolition of the Ritz-Carlton has been finished. If the building has any underground floors, they will be cleared out in the next few months.

And now we play the waiting game for the new tower that's going to be built on the site of the old hotel...

Disappointed. This is by far not worth brought down the Ritz Carlton.

It's not so bad.

That Ritz-Carlton building was great though.

Sadly to say another typical glassy building...

But I guess with small lot size, with height restriction, building up the whole lot and straight up as rectangle is the only way to maximize the square footage/plot ratio.

It might just be 'another glassy building' - but it actually will fit in well with the rest of the skyline, and will certain hold its own at night.

Maybe we need more renders, but if it turns out like that, I'll be a happy chappy.

Yes - it seems to fit well with AIG next door.

The new office tower in the rendering appears to be over 500 feet tall.

It does - the AIG is 185m (607ft). This one looks to be about 550 at least.

I agree. The Ritz was perfect the way it was. With the current state of the office market they must sorely regret this. There should be plenty of floors available next door at AIG.

But by the time they finish this one the market would likely turn around. IFC 2 opened amidst a recession, and within a few years, rents shot up 5x.
