Royal Thai Police announced new uniform, a great response to the more extreme weather.

ตำรวจไทยเตรียมเปลี่ยนเครื่องแบบใหม่ ให้เข้ากับสภาวะโลกร้อน ให้เจ้าหน้าที่ปฏิบัติงานด้วยความคล่องตัวขึ้น


พล.ต.อ.เสรีพิศุทธ์ เตมียาเวส ผู้บัญชาการตำรวจแห่งชาติ กล่าวว่า วันนี้ในที่ประชุมบริหาร สำนักงานตำรวจแห่งชาติได้มีการพิจารณาเรื่องเครื่องแบบตำรวจที่จะเพิ่มใหม่ ซึ่งที่ผ่านมาตำรวจมีชุดเครื่องแบบที่หลักสีกากี แบบที่ใช้กันอยู่ในปัจจุบัน แต่บ้านเราเป็นเมืองร้อนเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจที่ปฏิบัติงาน ใส่เครื่องแบบก็ร้อนไม่กระชับเวลานั่งทำงาน จึงให้ช่วยกันพิจารณาชุดตำรวจแบบใหม่เพิ่มเข้ามา เพื่อใช้ในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ควบคู่กับชุดเดิมเพื่อให้ผู้ปฏิบัติงานคล่องตัว โดยหาเสื้อบางๆ สีกากี กางเกงก็เป็นสีดำหรือสีกากี ตอนนี้กำลังสอบถามหัวหน้าหน่วยทุกหน่วย


" ส่วนเครื่องหมายที่ติดเครื่องแบบก็พิจารณาว่าจะปักติดไปเลยหรือใช้ตีนตุ๊กแก ถอดเข้าออกได้ ส่วนหมวกใช้หมวกเบเร่ต์ รองเท้าก็ไม่ใช่คอมแบท เป็นรองเท้ายางดูดีเพื่อคล่องตัว เมื่อตกลงใจได้ผ่านมติทุกอย่างก็จะใช้เงินสวัสดิการซื้อผ้า มาตัดใช้ได้ ซึ่งยังไม่ทราบงบประมาณว่าต้องใช้เงินเท่าไหร่แต่ตำรวจทำได้อยู่แล้ว ซึ่งเครื่องแบบนี้ใช้ได้ทุกระดับ ใส่ได้ตลอดเวลา ซึ่งถ้าวันนี้ผ่านการประชุมก็สั่งซื้อผ้าตัดทำได้เลย"ผบ.ตร.กล่าว


พล.ต.อ.เสรีพิศุทธ์ กล่าวว่า เชื่อว่าไม่มีการต่อต้านจากผู้ใต้บังคับบัญชา เพราะผ่านการพิจารณาผู้บังคับบัญชาทุกท่านซึ่งเท่าที่ฟังก็เห็นด้วย ซึ่งถ้าใครเห็นอย่างไรสามารถเสนอแนะติชมได้ ตนเองก็ใส่ได้แต่คงไม่ได้ใส่บ่อย เครื่องแบบใหม่ก็คงใช้เวลาไม่นานก่อนตนเกษียณก็น่าจะนำมาใช้ได้ ซึ่งจะช่วยให้เกิดความประหยัด และก็เป็นส่วนช่วยเรื่องโลกร้อนด้วย ส่วนใหญ่ก็เห็นด้วยและให้เสนอแนะว่ารองเท้า เข็มขัด จะเป็นแบบไหน


ทั้งนี้ ในวันนี้ได้มีตำรวจ 2 นายแต่งเครื่องแบบที่คาดว่าจะนำมาใช้ มาแสดงเป็นตัวอย่างต่อสื่อมวลชน และเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจที่ร่วประชุมเพื่อพิจารณาเสนอแนะความคิดเห็น

I think its a good step hopefully they will also modernize they way they train their cops, the way they gather evidence, their sense of duty, their weaponry, their attitude, and increase their pay.

^ ironically, i don't know why thai police can always catch the bad guys, for almost every crime committed these days. (perhaps scape goats?)

The new style seems much better, possibly because I associate the old uniform with corruption. But still, the new one looks more modern.

I agree with Thainotts and hope they will improve the whole organization, as well as the salaries.

which is practical and i like that. thailand's weather is hot after all....

i want to add another thing to my wish list for the police: hope that they'll develop a good understanding of the law and of the democratic rule of law.

Outrageous! - Are you a ricequeen? There is no such thing as a "Siamese" look. Bangkok and her surrounding under-sea-level plains has been a melting pot for generations (which is very good). The area was Khmers for hundred of years to begin with. Waves and waves of immigrations, mainly from Southern China (Shantou area) and hundreds of thousand of Malay (from Pattani), Lao and Khmers prisoners of war of the last century that were forced to settle down in Bangkok has helped shape the way we look today. That s why some of us in Bangkok would have a Khmer or Malay look. It is not a Siamese looks at all. It is just a fine combination of everything.

Having said that, I tend to agree that the world-famous broad face, high cheek bones and flatter nose is common in northeastern (Isaan ; Lao) people face and proven to be very sexy in Western and Northern Europe.

I agree with phillybud,
But, I would separate Laoation from Khmers because their women are quite pretty especially ones mixed with Vietnamese blood. Burmese ladies are quite pretty too and have a light complexion . The Isanians are basically Lao speaking Khmers.

In general, I believe it is fair to compare the look of authentic Thais to the looks of Lao/Burma (think Aung sung sushi) but not Cambodia/Isan. Thailand has already experienced what the US will face in 15 years and that is a population crush. In the future, Mariachi will replace Rockn'Roll, refried beans will replace hamburgers and we will all be driving without insurance.

Oops! If I am misinformed, then I stand to be corrected!!! Sorry if I offended anyone. My main point was that one should not stereotype Thai people, that it is a great country with a great many ethnic types.
