Arrow PORT OF SPAIN | Broadgate Tower | 26fl | O/H

According to Emporis the Broadgate building formally proposed to be built in POS is now under construction and has been increased in height from 15 to 26 floors.

This as seen here:
http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/ci/bu/s...t=2&ht=2&sro=1

Emporis is usually quite reliable but they have been wrong before, case in point they still have the towers on the waterfront listed as 20 instead of 26 floors.
I'm trying to get confirmation on the Broadgate building. If this height increase is true that would make this possibly the tallest building in POS.

Yeah sometimes it's hard to tell if they're right. Especially in smaller countries because they don't seem to work much at getting info from those countries.

Thanks Simbolella! I'm not quite sure if I like that design yet.

yeah just by comparing the two designs so far, i think i'm a fan of the old design too. the greenery and full use of space was more inviting i think.
this new one looks a bit like 'watch but don't touch'
but it might just be a matter of getting used to it...might grow on us.

at least it's not ugly!

Looks nice IMO. I wonder if it's going to have a 'double skin'.

Looks like that's the case to me too just looking at the renders. Thanks guys for posting these. The wait was long enough. I don't mind the new design, I also had a soft spot for the older one. The newer design looks a little too similar to the waterfront towers for my taste. Hopefully the new Salvatori building will add a little more architectural diversity.
Having said that I do like the overall look of the tower. Would like to see a floor plan or a different view to see what the shape of the building is before I make my final opinion.

Interesting design, I like this desing more except for the lack of open space and greenery. Is the Block shaped building to the lower right part of the project?

Not that I know of... The Broadgate place building is only 26 floors so its not that. The only possible candidate would be the new Salvatori building but no detailed plans have been revealed for this building and demolition of the old building is still ongoing. Plus Town and Country Planning would have to again raise the maximum height of buildings which is currently 26 floors. Considering all these factors its highly unlikely that there's a 40 floor building UC

I hope I'm wrong though cuz a 40 story mixed use building at say the Salvatori site would be a great focal point to the current skyline which has kinda plateaued out at the 20somthing floor level.

That would be something. If T&T would be getting a 40 story building that would just be... amazing! I mean this skyline is a baby right now, but it's growing really fast, so a 40 story building would give it a lot of impact.

A 40 story building would be awsome and if it is built I hope it is architecturally prominent. I think town and country planning should change the regulations so that the height of buildings can increase to 40 stories

As much as I like tall buildings I don't think Trinidad is prepared for a building that tall. The emergency services etc. I think the cap should remain around 30 for now.

There's not much difference, in my opinion, with regards to say, fire services ability to attend to a 40 floor vs a 30 floor building. In fact if your worried about emergency services being prepared to access a high rise I think we should be worried now cuz if God forbid one of the current buildings were threatened I don't know how well equipped we would be to deal with this.

Personally I don't see the reason for limiting buildings to the arbitrary height of 26 floors I really don't know where that number came from. All that does is make all new buildings the same uniform height:
ie. towers B and C on the waterfront, both GCP towers, the new Broadgate building, the conceptual SWWTU building, the Nicholas tower and even the twin towers are all roughly the same height. Kinda boring, but that's purely from a aesthetic pov.

If the max building height is increased I surly hope that the necessary infrastructure is in place prior to that.

My concern exactly, Governments have a history of having the donkey then trying to put cart after it. While I think a 40 story building, especially mixed used , at the Salvatori site would be great, I would like to see a lot of infrastructural improvement on the ground first.

I also do agree that 26, 26, 26, 26, 26 is boring.

Does Town and Country planning have a restriction on the number of floors in a building; or do they have a restriction on the height in feet, or meters? Those are two completely different attributes.
