I don't think this tower would be the tallest on Sherbrooke street. there is still the Scotia Tower (1002 Sherbrooke Street West) that will be taller(in terms of height)

Also, this new tower will have about 400 feet, whereas PVM and 1000 de la Gauchetière are well over 600 feet. Even though they are lower on the slope of downtown, i doubt this tower will be taller than the big skyscrapres of downtown!

Interesting. I forgot about the Scotia bank. Found this link. Its height is listed at 27 floors. The Hilton is supposed to be 37 floors. Granted, office tower floors tend to be taller than hotel floors so we'll have to wait and see how it turns out. Unless someone can come up with height estimates.

Either way, the Hilton will be scratching the upper reaches of Montreal's height restrictions.

I think the guesstimate for this tower is about 118 meters. With the topography in downtown Montreal, we might not even see it from the river.

Probably true, but it will look really cool driving down sherbrooke in both directions. The present line of towers on the south side of Sherbrooke follows that bend in the street and reflects of the old and new McGill music buildings. It's already a nice bend, and this tower will fill the last significant void on the south side of Sherbrooke, from Atwater to St. Laurent. What Montreal really needs now is something major next between IBM and CSC/CGI, on Rene-Levesque.

Average tower. But interesting conversations, I had no idea about such tensions between Torontians and Montrealians. Sounds like Montrealians are being attacked for no other reason than being from Montreal.

P.S. Coral Builder, you sound like a very troubled individual.

P.P.S. 25 stories is not a skyscraper

Its the usual crap spewed by some avid toronto supporters on this board. Most of the people i know from Toronto are not like that at all.

Looks heavy and somewhat dated. Certainly not uplifting.

I was thinking about that and actually, it will look great in the "other" skyline: from Mount Royal. I know that Montreal's most famous skyline is usually shot from the river, but the view from the mountain is just as spectacular.

Agreed. On the other hand, Montréal didn't have anything that tall (and it's far from being tall !!) built since more than fifteen years. We are excited anyway !!

THIS is another beautiful project for Montreal!

There's a growing and disturbing consensus that if a structure, like Hilton Garden Inn, isn't a " supertall " - tower that exceeds 1000 ft. - that It's somehow unworthy of value. Where does This come from? EVERY building shouldn't be just for the sake of being tall!

I think the tower is perfect height for the area that it resides in. It's tall enough that it will loom above everything there.

The last time I passed by it was just about equal in height to the building next to it, and you can see it reaching up already if you look up the hill from St-Catherine St. even from way up on Parc Avenue you can see the crane!

7 more floors and the tower will be at his final height.
