I am one who liked the old facade of thje Selmi-Haus, it had something 70s, what I like (but I don't like those facades for lowrise buildings). But now I think it will look ok. It's darker in real than in the rendering, which is way too shiny and made my opinion.

I like the old facade much more... Now it becomes a simple box...

Better a simple box than an ugly box...

what do you mean by stupidly tall?
there are three buildings higher than 250m:
Fernsehturm (Ginnheimer Spargel), 331m (TV Tower)
Commerzbank-Hochhaus, 259m
Messeturm, 257m

Maybe we should consider the latest render when discussing this development, the one in the first post is already a bit outdated. Here a picture of the construction sign onsite. The picture was taken in the evening with a spot light on it, so the colours are not that accurate. On the other hand in terms of the dark colour of parts of the new elements it seems to be more realistic than the brighter daylight view. I would appreciate if the dark bits would work out like this at the end.

And finally it is planned to illuminate the stairways between the two slices and the top of building, which would be real gain on the evening and night views.

I'm not sure if I like these plans. At least the old cladding had some character. The new cladding is veeery boring.

I always liked it. Bu don't mind if it gets replaced with a skyscraper.
