Funny how much that makes it look like a new tower. That's a good way of making skyline a bit more modern cheeply Not sure what is would look like, but I think for ex. New York should re-clad some of its old highrises too.

Nice reclad! Even the most horrible buildings can have a reclad, demolition is not always the only option.

If that ugly 80s monster" is that 5-story lowrise building next to the existing City Haus, then that new new skyscraper, named Neue DZ-Bank, has a height of 180 metres.

Yes, looks better than expected from the renderings. Especially on a sunny day with the reflections and the varying sun shades in the windows.

Ugliness of the old cladding.
The dark colour was nice, but it didn't age very well.

According to FAZ, it was a prestige decision. They wanted to look nice for ther 125 year anniversary of the bank in december 2008.
