I would disagree. IF you want to find ugly project you should sure look for National library. This towers are great.

Not a beauty in my eyes. Looks like it's taken from a Sci-fi movie from the seventies. Sorry. Good height, though!

Weird to imagine that these constructions are deep below the Daugava level - river is just some 30 m away.

A lot of interesting locations there, beautiful landscape and waterways.

I think that the design is very bold, good looking and inspiring. Have to give the city some credit for being daring. I think that it will pay off and send the city in a good direction estheticly. A modern direction.

But we dont want to ruin the older architecthural elements. Modern architechture has a tendency to feel rather cold. I think it can be compensated by a lot of light and open space, and soft shapes.

Furthermore... I do like the construction site. Hehe.

It will be an interesting facility thats for sure.

I read in the news that Z-Towers construction has been paused again because of some construction rules violation or something. Can anyone confirm?

Two days ago they worked like crazy. But yesterday it was really more silent - don't know - due to weekend or rule.
According to official announcements they seem to have serious trouble - it is reported, that the things they build differ seriously from the approved project.

"The proposals for the new cost-efficient design of Z-towers have been unveiled. Any of these proposals means a new landmark in development of cost efficient construction in Riga over the excessive exorbitance in construction of the buildings in previous centuries."

Proposal A

Proposal B

Proposal C - note the innovative facade ornamentation.

Proposal D - public wants groundscrapers!

...joke
the first is dorms in Columbus, US. B is apartment building near Paris. C is abandoned apartment building in Rijeka. D is something in Moscow.

News about Z-Tower - construction continues
http://www.rdpad.lv/topicality/press...e.php?id=91827
In short - Riga city construction board allowed to proceed with construction and in two weeks time there must be an expertise conclusions/opinions in regard to 0-cycle CHANGES. Representative of Z-towers also pointed out that if construction would be stopped now the whole site would be flooded. God bless.
