Corrections - Architect: KVA Architects, Finalnd

Hmm... 76m ?!?!?
Something I can't understand:

Pictures form Construction magazine ''Latvijas Buvnieciba''
http://www.lilita.lv/i.php?z=61# (Sorry for quality)

and finally, what do you think about it? 76m or 90m ???

Could be changed by the second architect. I assume that 90m would be the right height, it sounds better too :p

But lookin at this picture again, we can see that Skanstes Virsotnes should'nt be
so hight (90m). Currently Skanstes Virsotne I has height (~22fl/~70m)
Something here is wrong....
Explanation according as Gatis picture:

Well, seems I was right after all But you never know it until it will be finished. Maybe they will put a big communications mast or something and with it the height will be about 90m

Agree with Oelanddk on this one, exept that in Asia its somehow great too see suchs an enourmes among of insanely ugly and tall residential high-rises making up an insanely dense area (such as HK)!

Finnish highrise design + Estonian investor + local permitting institutions = this result.
If that would be the only case, I wouldnt say this.

There were good locally produced designs proposed and even winning the official tenders... and as usual, replaced by Finns in hard-to-understand ways. Happily at least in the case of "Spice" highrise the usual quality Finnish design (which also did not win in the open design tender but was imposed by Merks anyway) was rejected by then newly established City Architect office and there was done more serious tendering and finally something more decent has been approved.

That's really shameful and depressing!

Thanks to Nomels for the photos of this ugly monstrosity, and to Martins for posting them.

Gati, as always thanks for your insight.

Riga deserves MUCH better than this!

More photos. Photos from LATIO.LV

Good photos, unseen angles, poor building architecture, great Skanstes skyline!

Today, the first highrise of this complex was officially put into operation. Simultaneously with a building there has been put into operation an arranged well adjoining territory, and also a two-level parking for 525 cars.

When I first saw this project I thought that they are ugly as hell, but when I recently visited that site in a sunny day I changed my mind. Now I quite like them and I wouldn't mind living into one A lot better high rise project than panorama plaza, that's for sure!
