Proposed skyscraper near to supermarket ''Olympia''. The urban idea is based on presumption that Kipsala is developing as a high-rise housing area. The urban vision of future Kipsala proposed by studio "Artis" was followed in our project.
35 - storey building marked as A is situated close to the K.Valdemara and Rietumu streets crossing. It would become remarkable landmark among the surrounding high-rise buildings. Its impressive shape, moreover, would effectively complete a perspective of the Kalciema street. It would harmonize with the Hansa bank and Vanšu bridge in the whole panorama from the old town. 16-storey residential building B is arranged along the Rietumu street and together with the building A supplements the north part.

I like more the old design, just because it's original. Aren't there plagiarism scandals in architecture? These are another remakes of New York Freedom Tower - in Kazakhstan capital Astan there will be seven other, but more qualitative pinchbecks.

i think that the newer design looks better than the old one, it had this weird orange part which i find really ugly

Interesting, but since this one is that tall i kinda hope they redesign it yet again! Not a terrible design though.

It seems the developers had abandoned the idea of it's construction...

No one has abandoned anything , Kipsala island needs (waits for and will get) major investments before any more super project can go ahead.

Yeh, a bit amateuristic way of thinking we had over highrise neighbourhood plans on Kipsala island - first there came about 10 quite serious proposals which made us believe that in 5 yrs time this would became one of the most significant highrise area's in Europe, and then somebody figured out 'wait, we don't have enough infrastructure there' ... In meanwhile construction costs and wages have doubled up and as well as demand on class A offices, so everything except Z-Towers and Da vinci is if not cancelled then at least frozen.

Im kinda confused... although the project is posted as cancelled here, i dont think its actually canceled... i saw on like 3 other sites that it will be build and done 2014-2015...
