If this building would be getting narrow with height, the design would look much better. something like Torre Cristal in Spain

Love it, very powerful tower!

Nice height to width ratio as well makes it appear very graceful.

The tower mext to it Warta tower also belongs to Kulczyk and i read an article in polish newsweek that he is looking to get into some serious bisness in Poland and abroard, apparently it is his ambition to be one of europes most influencial bisinessmen. Recently he has just been sitting on his $5bn raking the intrest so hopefully he does something usefull with it now!!

Huge Skyscraper for Warsaw
12 December 2007 - Warsaw Voice

A company controlled by tycoon Jan Kulczyk plans to build a 280-meter, 68-story skyscraper containing a hotel, offices and apartments in downtown Warsaw, in what would be the tallest building in continental Europe.

The building, the cost of which is estimated to be over zl.1 billion, would be located near Zawiszy Square, between Chmielna Street and Jerozolimskie Avenue. Construction is expected to start in late 2009 and end in 2011.

The site and the adjacent Warta Tower office building belongs to Kulczyk Holding. The investor in the project is Chmielna Development, part of Kulczyk Holding.

Chmielna Development said the planned skyscraper would have a usable floor space of 81,000 sq m. The company has applied to the Warsaw municipal authorities for a building conditions decision.

Most of the building's usable floor area will be designated for apartments and a hotel section. The topmost stories will be occupied by over 300 apartments. A hotel with at least 200 rooms will be situated below them. The largest hotels, such as the Hyatt, Hilton, and Marriott, are likely to be interested coming on board such a prestigious project.

The building will be designed by Andrzej Wyszyński along with Dorota Borysiewicz and Andrzej Piłatowski of MWH Architekci. The firm designed Warsaw's second tallest office building, the Warsaw Trade Tower (formerly the Daewoo headquarters) as well as the Big Boy apartment building in Gdańsk.

The building, whose base level will be in the form of parallelogram, will "rotate" every 15 stories so that every section is a mirror reflection of the one below. From above the building will look like an octahedron. The sides of the skyscraper will visually consist of triangular-shaped facets. "It will reflect light and the sky differently, which will give a variegated effect while at the same time allowing for a uniform building form to be maintained," said Wyszyński.

The investor wants to extend nearby Miedziana Street to Jerozolimskie Avenue in cooperation with Polish State Railways (PKP), which would make it possible to build a platform over the nearby rail tracks to create a general access public space. PKP has not confirmed this information, however.

The new building's roof will be around 260 meters above ground. Together with its crowning spire, it may reach 282.4 meters. That is higher than any other skyscraper in Europe at the moment. However, it will not be the tallest skyscraper for long. Plans are underway to build the London Shard skyscraper, and the Paris Phare office building, which will be over 300 meters. Meanwhile, the 600-meter Russia Tower is planned for Moscow. But it is not know when these three projects will be completed.

Warsaw has recently seen a flurry of ambitious high-rise projects. Several weeks ago Israel's Lilium Company submitted an application for building conditions decision for a 257-meter building at the intersection of Jerozolimskie and Jana Pawła II avenues, next to the Marriott Hotel. Several weeks ago, the FSP Arcus studio asked the City Hall to give preliminary approval for a 110-meter skyscraper on military land between Jerozolimskie Avenue and Nowogrodzka Street that is earmarked for sale.

Among skyscrapers planned in Poland, the highest will be the 258-meter Wrocław Sky Tower. Work on it is expected to finish in 2009 or 2010. The building is being constructed by the LC Corporation, a company of Leszek Czarnecki, one of the wealthiest people in Poland.
