xi'an - ShanXi Province (西安 - 陕西省):
![]() Xi'an (Chinese: 西安; pinyin: Xī'ān; Wade-Giles: Hsi-An; Postal map spelling: Sian[1]; historically known as Cháng'ān[1]), is the capital of the Shaanxi province in the People's republic of China and a sub-provincial city. As one of the oldest cities in Chinese history, Xi'an is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China because it has been the capital (under various names) of some of the most important dynasties in Chinese history,[2] including the Zhou, Qin, Han, the Sui, and Tang dynasties.[2] Xi'an is the eastern terminus of the Silk Road and known as the site of the Qin Dynasty Terracotta Army.[1] The city is more than 3,100 years old, and was known as Chang'an (traditional Chinese: 長安; simplified Chinese: 长安; pinyin: Cháng'ān; literally "Perpetual Peace") before the Ming Dynasty.[1] Since the 1990s, as part of the economic revival in central and northwestern China, the City of Xi'an has re-emerged as an important cultural, industrial and educational center of the central-northwest region, with facilities for research and development, national security and China's space exploration program. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Those are different cities?
![]() Actually they look very much alike, I'd really like to see some of the old substances. I assume all of the chinese cities have distinguishable features, but usually they aren't shown, why? |

FuZhou - FuJian Province (福州 - 福建省):
Fuzhou (Chinese: 福州; pinyin: Fúzhōu; Wade-Giles: Fu-chou; Foochow Romanized: Hók-ciŭ; EFEO: Fou-Tcheou; also seen as Foochow, Fuchow or Fuh-chau in earlier Western documents) is the capital and the largest prefecture-level city of Fujian (福建) province, People's Republic of China. It is also referred to as Rongcheng (榕城) which means "city of banyan trees." It is the capital of the province, and is situated on the north bank of the estuary of Fujian's largest river, the Min River, which gives access to the interior and to the neighboring provinces of Jiangxi and Zhejiang. ![]() ![]() ![]()

What I was indicating is that the pictures show almost no differences. I'm sure chinese cities look very different at a closer look though. I was wondering why the thread-opener shows so many similar pics....
![]() The pictures are beautiful though, please continue! @foadi: please spare me with your minority complex towards the great western civilization

Nah, they are very different from each other even in those pics I think.
Anyway, all sheep look the same unless you are a sheep too.
