EDMONTON | Stationlands | ~125m | 28 fl | U/C

A long-approved project by Qualico has finally found a tenant, giving Edmonton a new 28 story building with undisclosed amount of office space (the lead tenant has asked for 265 000 sq. ft. or 24 600 m2 of space from them). Lead tenant is Epcor who is switching buildings so that they can expand. They currently have 1100 office employees and are looking to expand to 1350 office employees and all that jazz. Articles and preliminary renders below:

Click here for Edmonton Journal article.

Artist's rendition of Epcor's new downtown office tower.

This newclip suggests the tower will have 750 000 - 800 000 sq. ft. / 69 700 - 74 300 m2 of office floorspace in total with approximately 27 000 sq. ft./2 500 m2 for retail.

Yay Edmonton! They could use a few more highrises. So could Sac-Town.

Any city could use more! :p

Anyways, I think I high-balled that height a bit too much. I think, according to my revised estimates, it is more around the 125 m mark.

Time for some clarification. The roof height is 125 m and the spiretop is 137 m. I just needed to clarify that to myself and to anyone following along.

The new empty spaces will be taken up by smaller fish that are expanding. There are literally hundreds of firms who want to expand their space and several firms who want to locate their firms downtown. This is going to create much needed space (Jasper Ave vacancy - 3%) - now we just need another office building around the university (Whyte Ave vacancy - 0%.)

The empty lot is soon going to be no more. The lot was used for the largest NYE fireworks display the city ever had. 'Twas awesome. The first shovel should be in the ground next week.

Video of the fireworks for those who are curious to see what it looked like. Video taken from Sir Winston Churchill Square (main town square), CN Tower's sign is clearly visible throughout the video.

It looks okay but I think the cladding will look worse than shown in the render.

Which render? The one on post #1 or post #9?

Pretty much quiet right now. They are redesigning the parkade to fit with the ghost LRT station that is going to be used for the North LRT extension. So until that gets finalised, serious work will not start. I expect by May it will be under serious work.

Ken Cantor, the head of this project at Qualico, has said that there will be webcams and timelapse videos to watch the construction.

Is it safe to say that the building is finally under construction yet?
