I'm curious, why wasn't Rijeka included as one of the host cities. It is the third largest city, especially since much smaller cities like Varaždin and Poreč were included? BTW, very modern looking arenas - i like the flying saucer.

More like wrong judgement. Rijeka wanted to host Mediterranean games so they didn't apply for this, they lost the Med bid tho and now they won't host anything

Politics ... so I suppose that the local government in Rijeka is not so friendly with the ruling national party in Zagreb.

HDZ is ruling party only in Split if we look at the host city. Why do u guys have to drag politics into everything? Rijeka chosed not to run because it wasn't in their plan.

With all these new arenas Croatia will have the ability to host other events, like Euro in Basketball, Volleyball, etc. Plus a rejuvenated basketball league ...
