NBTD's Travels: Hot Hot Prague!! (and the 'Bone Church')

Places already visited

Amsterdam
Copenhagen
Berlin
Oslo
Bergen

Check out London too

Prague

So, I went to the beautiful city of Prague back in July and have only now got around to sorting though the pics.

The Czech Republic was experiencing unusually hot weather, high 30's/low 40's -which was quite a change from the dreariness
and constant rain we had come from in the rest of Northern Europe.
It made it hard to walk for more than 5 mins without to sit down and have a drink
..which was rather annoying as we couldn't explore the city half as much as we would have liked.

Anyway, it didn't detract from this gorgeous, lively city...its well worth a visit if you haven't been

Enjoy...

1. Starting with a big Pano, taken from the Palace, you can see the mini Eiffel Tower poking above the hill>>>>>>>>>>>>>scroll

2. And another Pano.....>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

3. Typical shot of the Palace/Castle

5. The TV tower in the distance

9.

10. Someone made the Soldier laugh, which made us laugh, which made him laugh even more
......the main officer guy didn't look too impressed

11. A Skoda? In Prague??

12. >>>

13.

14.

15. Segway....

16.

17.

18. Some guys chasing the water sprayer which made a pretty Rainbow
(I don't know what the water sprayers were for - i assume it is to stop the tram tracks buckling in the immense heat )

19.

20.

21.

22. The famous bridge

23.

24.

25.

26.

27.

28.

29. Garden Gnomes get everywhere

30. A museum of some sort

31.

32.

33.

34.

35.

36.

We went to nearby Kutna Hora to see the infamous 'Bone Church' - it was such a relief to be somewhere cool and out of the heat,
i really didn't care that i was surrounded by the bones of 40,000 plague victims

Great photos NBTD. I took exactly the same photo as you on the 34th picture.
I can see the building that our apartment faced on the 2nd pano. Where abouts did you stay?
It was really hot when I went in June. We were all wearing shorts and it must of hit the mid 30's in the day.

Here it is (Note the pink arrow)

The same could be said for India and China and Pakistan and Bangladesh and dozens of other countries.

^ Please don't start such a discussion on here and destroy the thread, take a full stop.

Beautiful pictures, NBTD! Your tours always are a pleasure to the eye.
I don't remember Prague that well kept thou, it may be just your pictures. I'm traveling every year there to meet some old buddies and have fun. Google for 'Caravan Camp', probably the best (and cheapest) way to explore the city

oops - havent checked this thread for ages

Your appartment was far more central than where we stayed. We were in a Hostel to the south of the Old Town...about 25mins walk from the centre. It was a fantastic hostel though, more like a hotel, and VERY cheap (by far the best place we stayed on our european travels)...its called Hotel Melounu, strongly recommend it.

Thanks for the comments all

Hey hey, great pics, as always NBTD!

Well, what else can I say? Prague will be one of my top-priority cities to visit during my stay in Europe starting in March. I was thinking of spending 2 days (a weekend) in town, what do you guys think?

The city is so colorful and it has such a diversity in its architecture as well as a lot of art on the streets, and that really amazes me.

Great pics again heh.

Awesome pics, probably the most beautiful city in the world.

But I think it becomes even more charming around the wintertime.

We had a look at some of the hostels in Prague but we couldn't find any decent ones. Alot of them were like 9km out of town so it would of been abit of a pain to get into the centre.
The apartment we chose only cost £65 each for 4 nights which I thought was really good value. It was really modern inside aswell and in a great area.

I was in Prague in July 2007 -- I remember the heat. So so hot. Berlin had been the same.

Great pics. I found Prague to be overwhelming -- in regards to the sheer about of tourists. It was dissapointing to see every shop in the old town catering to tourists. No doubt I was contributing to this also, but It's shit to see.

Beautiful city though.

That's a strange statement; it's ethnically Czech and Bohemian. They are Eastern European caucasian or 'white'. After being forced behind the Iron Curtain until 1989 you can't expect them to have any multiculturalism.

Despite this, there is a small growth from immigration, particular from Northern Africa.
