Too hard to tell, but I don't think so, judging by the curvature of the sphere I think it has to go a little bit higher to come to the complete top.

Not many farmers can afford buying condos like this in China. But it will be free for any person whose Hukou is registered in this village to live in this building. The villagers do not own the condos (they can't sell their assigned condos to outsiders), since the building along with all other village properties (land, buildings and companies etc.) are owned by the village and distributed to its villagers. This is one of the very few places that still adopt the idea of communism/socialism in China, and surprisingly most of such villages are doing very well. More ironically, the village hires lots of migrant workers (much more than its registered residents) to work in its many factories, so basically the villagers are a bunch of wealthy capitalists who adopt communism among themselves.

Love it. Is Farmer's Apartments just the name? I think Wuxi is a pretty urban metropolis near Shanghai.

This building is in Huaxi village near Wuxi, not in Wuxi city itself.

I did some online research on this tower, and I need to correct some errors in my previous post.

The tower is funded by 200 Huaxi villagers who each invested 10 million RMB in cash or share capital (about $1.5 million), and therefore these 200 villagers are the owners and shareholders of this building (I thought it was owned by the village like everything else). The least amount of personal savings among the registered residents is over 1 million RMB, so it is pretty easy to find 200 such investors within the village. Anyway, things are run in a really different way in Huaxi compared to the other villages in China. The village made a profit of 3 billion RMB ($450 million), so I guess money isn’t an issue for them to build such a supertall.

Here is video (in Chinese) showing the village and how they raised money for the tower.
http://news.enorth.com.cn/system/201...04611848.shtml
These are the village share capital certificates they used to invest in the building:

Each certificate has a face value of 1 million RMB:

Also I noticed in the news the building is called "新农村大楼", which is literally translated into "New Countryside Building", so I am not sure what they will finally use as the official title. This is indeed an interesting project like no others.

This building is now T/O.

http://www.js.xinhuanet.com/jiangyin...t_20821133.htm

After nearly 3 years of intense construction, with a total investment of 2.5 billion RMB, the 328 meters high 'New Countryside Building' in Huaxi Village was topped out yesterday (Sep 5th) according to Xinhua.

Thanks for the great update, must be hard to find it. The building looks slimmer than the renders. seems they will be able to celebrate the village's 50th anniversary with it next year.

Also it is interesting to see one of the most frequently seen Chinese characters on that wall. quite unusually, it is not circled
