What an awesome unique tower. I wish we'd had more updates on its construction. Such a shame.

It's so strange to see a Chinese city adhere to their culture so much. Although the design of the tower may only have subtle elements of Chinese, its interior is extremely Chinese. Something people in the region should be proud of. Such a nice change from the usual 'modern' look that most towers in Chinese cities have.

In the news:
http://tv.sohu.com/20111009/n321586118.shtml

The farmers' tower costing RMB 3 billion was invested by villagers of Huaxi, each household investing RMB 10 million (USD c. 1.5 million).

The village is known as the NO.1 village in the world, attracting millions of visitors every year. It is celebrating its 50th birthday

The assets of the village are owned by the villagers, the village has been implementing socialism since its foundation

It's a nice tower, however doesn't it kinda destroy that 'village' feeling that al those visitors come look for?

People visiting Huaxi are not looking for the traditional sense of village life, they come to witness how a village can transform itself to an industrial powerhouse through entrepreneurship. I remembered back in the 90s people visit Huaxi to see and marvel how their villagers can live in villas and own cars.
