Should be completed sometimes in 2010. The concept by Khalid Molato has been confirmed as the winner in the design competition last Friday.

that's encouraging, the first time i see kind of a futuristic design structure in Morocco. Hope that other cities will follow in the same way

From L'Economiste:

Thumbs up

Great developement!

I'm not in love with the shape of that building though, which looks like huge tent..
That's why I would prefer the design that was made by Khalid and Rachid Bohsina.
http://www.initiativemedia.net/pdf/k...id_bohsina.pdf

I read that it was also difficult for the jury to choose between these two designs, anyway I think they chose the Molato design because of it's size and it's better functionality. So maybe it wasn't a bad choice.. I can't wait to see it finished.

By the way, it would be really great if the area around the new port gets some nice towers!

Considering the fact that there is an abundance of land around the port, I highly doubt towers will be built there. However, it wouldn't look too bad (off course if they are made of glass this time instead of concrete!!!)

i didn't like the design of bohsina is like the traditional structures we have all around morocco airports and other facilities very square and boring , the only creativity that i saw is the water effect on the roof is really nice but will cost a lot money for maintenance.

I think that most of the (glass) towers are going to build in the area of the Tanger city centre and on the Avenida de Mohammed VI

You're right, because a tent is not a traditional structure at all.

Anyway, thank god there is no arguing about taste.

i'm not arguing about taste here if you like it it's fine , it just i m very happy that for the first time i see new ideas of design being accepted in an important project in morocco . even if i don't see its shape as a tent but the way it is presented is very convivial and very modern, it reminds me a little bit of the designs of Zaha haddad . for example burj el arab has the shape of a sale very trational structure , but the way it was made make it among the most modern and beautiful structures.

Coalmine, that's the design of the Tanger-med train station. The design for the current tanger-city port is somewhere in the forums. I'll look it up and copy it here
