I was at FanFest today. It was amazing. It was electric. I will post the photos tomorrow once I download them from my camera. I have been there several time before, but now that it is virtually complete and the crowd was large, it was like no other visit before. I dare say this is going to be one of the best ballparks in all of baseball.

What a tragedy:
(MLB is already making the Marlins repaint the center field batter's eye to a darker color instead of the lime green) http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_r...2_a9&eref=sihp Quote:

This stadium looks pretty good. I am sure it will be a great improvement over Dolphin Stadium.
A couple of questions: The lower section of seats along the first and third base lines, why is there a space between those lower sections and the rest of the lower bowl? I am not talking about the seats behind home plate. |

I thought the acquarium structure would span the entire length of the backstop area. I don't think it will show up during television broadcasts otherwise.

March 6th, 2012, Canes vs. Marlins, their first game ever in the new stadium...

It’s so great to be able to turn around and watch the game live, even from the concession stand: ![]() ![]() Home bullpen: ![]() Home-plate skyboxes: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hanley’s Homer! Caught in the cap by the guy in the red shirt: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() CONINE!! ![]() ![]() No, it didn’t go off for Hanley. ![]() A sellout 10,000: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Clevelander…at some point. ![]() ![]() Premium seating. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A couple comments: -The stadium is A LOT larger in person than any pictures do justice. -The ability to purchase a parking pass for this game was great, and I'd like to go to many more this year...But I'm pretty sure that unless they open up sanctioned parking somewhere nearby and not be at the mercy of the trolley/Metrorail/Tri-Rail/late fans blocking me in on Humberto's front lawn for god know's how long while they stay late at the Clevelander, this will probably be my first and last game here until next year's early exhibition. Which is pretty sad because it's a nice place and I'm willing to give them more of my money. -No beer...yet. (apparently) ![]() ![]() -The A/C vents right behind the lower bowl, but in front of the concession areas, are noisy. But don't misunderstand...I'm not complaining about A/C. Any further forward (not under the overhang), or on one of the upper levels, would probably alleviate the problem.-The signboards are busy. I don't need to see the guy's shoe size at every at-bat. Still haven't found the pitch speed indicator, but lord knows it's probably in one of these pictures. ![]() -The roof is so high that even with it closed (it was open until just before gametime), you really don't even feel like you're indoors. -Did I say no beer (yet)? ![]() -The same game announcer and organ tone as JRS made the place feel right at home. -I can't comment on the outgoing traffic from the garages (we left in the 8th so we don't find out how bad it really gets), but being routed west on 7th St by PD with no eastbound entrance onto the 836 from 17th Av really f*cked us up. Our little (de)tour through Allapattah should have been avoided. All in all, a damn fine place. It's just too bad with the (non-existent) parking situation. I'd really like to spend more money there, but I can't spend for a full ticket/parking package, nor do I have a schedule which I can plan months in advance. Oh well, their loss.
