The agreement, courtesy of the Herald
http://media.miamiherald.com/smedia/...filiate.56.pdf I'm not going to read the entire thing, but some quick points: They will be required to change the name to Miami Marlins prior to completion. They will be required to play ALL of it's regular season and post season home games at the stadium. Amenities comparable to those recently built in other cities including San Diego, St Louis, PHiladelphia, etc. HOK Sport has been hired by the team for design. They're trying for LEED certification They're still hoping for a sales tax rebate from the State. There will apparently be an aquarium somewhere in there, as part of the plans call for "Aquarium Filtration System Room" at 125 sq ft. Seating: Main Concourse: Field Club - 302 Owners Box - 12 Home Plate Reserved - 3,688 Field Boxes - 1,755 Scouts Bay - 36 Premium "Scouts Bay" - 87 1st and 3rd dugout - 281 1st and 3rd reserved - 9,736 Outfield reserved - 2,026 Suite Level: Fiesta Deck - 2,036 Luxury Suites - 16 (seats 16) Party Suites - 7 Owners Suite - 1 Founders Suites - 10 (seats 20) Club Level: Club Seating - 3,349 Luxury Suites - 22 Founders Suites - 12 Upper Concourse: View Level Box - 3,341 View Leve Reserved - 9,032 |

I'm sure HOK is working on a completely different design now that the park will stand alone. Hopefully its something that will be unique to Miami (as unique as you can get with a ballpark...or one with a retractable roof)....I know they were looking at the "sail" concept the Rays are going to have at their ballpark...but I think we need the roof. I just hope it won't be the same ole retractable roof ball park...dusted off and taken off the shelf, then again something too out-there wouldn't be good either.
![]() http://www.hoksport.com/showcase/RaysBallpark.html I don't know seems kinda ugly. But definitely unique. Then again...love the bay right next to it. *sigh* Oakland's new Cisco Field is nice as well but again...no roof. lol

February 18th 2008 12:27 P.M. CBS-4.com ;The Marlins are one step closer to a retractable roof stadium as they(Miami County and City Commissioners) will meet and discuss on Thursday. The team will have to change its name to the Miami Marlins and it will be be on the old Orange Bowl site in Little Havana.
The cost of the new stadium will be 525 million:Which is 100 million more over projection Miami Dade County -347 million The Marlins team -155 million-120 million up front and the rest to be annuitized The City of Miami -23 million -of which 10 million is just to demolish the Orange Bowl. Alot of the financing will come through tourist tax dollars. Last edited by noland123; February 18th, 2008 at 10:42 PM. |

because if you see in those renderings, immediately adjacent the ballpark is the orange bowl...
there's no more orange bowl. start from scratch. it's a whole new ballgame, pun intended. |

it's posted in the sun-sentinel because its the only rendering they have to show.
HoK is gonna come out with an improved design of the stadium, if not a different design. |

The media has always used old designs for it, the herald ran with a different one, one of the local channels even showed a rendering od it on Bicentenial park.
That doesnt mean its the design their gonna use. |

A half a billion dollars for a new stadium the Marlins better have way above average winning seasons for it to pay off.

How do you get this far without having an idea what the stadium will look like? They've got it down to the dollar. It may be tweaked, but I don't see a major redesign coming. I hope I'm wrong though. I'd much prefer the classic stylings and openess of a Petco or Citizens Bank Park.

Which brings me to another point. Where are the Marlins in all of this? I know they're getting ready for spring training, but this is their day. They should have new renderings and videos ready to go and probably started the day with a press conference at the Orange Bowl. The commissioners still have to vote on this. It's either arrogance or incompetence. If Loria's and Sampson's past work is any clue, it's probably a lot of both.
As a baseball fan I'm excited by this deal and the prospect of going to new stadium in 2011, but as a citizen I think it stinks. |

I saw a rendering of the new stadium today on the news, if it was the true rendering on cbs4.com. It gave an overview of the new stadium
