Learn what exactly? Tianjin is simply too huge to build all offices in one place hence they construct CBDs in multiple locations. Goldin investment will be a part of the skyline within couple of years.

[QUOTE=Tianjin_smiles;121036998]These pics show the construction site across the road from Goldin 117. But those buildings are nowhere tall enough to make this tower not stand out

Thanks very much for the pics!
You're right, and theese towers are in my opinion quite boring also.
Sadly, than it would be nice if somewhere in this area a couple of higher building would be build.

I really like the style of "standard issue Chinese" residential towers. I've always thought of them as "Hong Kong" style residential towers. I love the way they look!

He means China ahould plan cities in "new urbanism" which they already do when they copy the old European cities

I personally like the fact that this tower is not built in the city center for two reasons:
1) it looks incredible tall with no other Supertalls next to it
2) it doesn't dwarf all the 200+ towers in the city center like Shanghai Tower does.

They're still called that by many people. And it's "tastes".

What do you call them today? I still call them ''Plattenbauten'' or ''Sozialbauten''.

I still call them "Plattenbauten" as well. My brother lives in one of them, and it's dismal. I'd never move into a thing like that.

That tower doesn't dwarf the other's, I love your posts Tianjinsmiles, but are we looking at the same pic It looks like its Mt Everest among hills.
The photo by the riverside is the best of barbaric's pics above

I mean the towers in the city center don't get dwarfed, since Goldin 117 is too far away. it's not visible from most angles.

Street view from Baidu

It's only old views back in november 2013, but always fun to have a tour in Baidu Street view (kind of like Google Street View but for China).
