This area which this building will rise from is really huge. Reminds me a stadium. Impressive

At a height of 600m, the 117-storey tower will become the tallest building in the city.

The top atrium of the tower:

Goldin Finance 117 will have a ‘walking stick’ design topped with a sparkling diamond atrium providing excellent views over Tianjin.

I like the slenderness and the modern look, but I don't know what to think of the top.
Though it should provide a superb view over the city.

I like the building itself, but I don't like it's location. It's so alone.
Why don't they build this in Tianjin downtown or Xiangluowan/Yujiapu (Binhai)?!

i think in the regions you mentioned are other over 500m projects already

Chow Tai Fook Center is in binhai. and xiangluowan has several monsters planned. look at this post for reference. tianjin has probably the most possible monster projects in china right now.

I'm fully aware of that, but IMO a tower like this should be located in a nice cluster. C'mon, one additional 500m+ tower in Binhai wouldn't hurt anyone.

Hopefully the supertall boom will last decades, and China will grow hundreds of 400m+.

But I will become more and more costly (rising wages etc.) to build such supertalls. I think it will slow down at some point.

Edit: Look at developers like Greenland, tons of supertall projects in second and third tier cities, but not one supertall in a first tier city (where it is more expensive to build a tower like this).

well we saw it in the big cities like Hong Kong it has a high density but not many more supertall projects going, i can imagine to see more smaller cities to expand or to see cities near the booming cities getting a piece of the cake, just look at Shenzhen, the boom it has is mostly due to its short distance towards Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

Perhaps big cities take account with planning. They build were it fits into the skyline.

I think this is similar situation to the ping'ans slab. It looks like they will lay top layer of rebars on top of these forms, although it's quite weird that they already installed cranes. Because it seems regular crane cages will be buried in concrete this way.
