Here's a couple of construction photos, taken today. I wasn't able to go in and get closer photos, because I made the stupid mistake of asking them if I could take them. Next time, just walk in and pretend I don't understand a thing.

These are the two tallest buildings in the area near the 117 site. As you can probably tell, they aren't going to help it "blend in" all that much.

I'll say that the site has come a long way in the last few weeks. Before, they were mostly just doing site prep, and setting up a single crane. Now, they've got a bunch of them, and there is a huge hold going into the ground.

By the way, can we change the status of this to "Under Construction"?

Wow!!!! Good job, Clashman. Doesn't look too isolated, don't you think?

It's location isn't on Weijin Nan Lu, (I'm not aware of a supertall planned for that street, are you?). It's not too far off of Yingshui Dao, in Hua Yuan. It's on the corner of Kai Hua Dao and Meiyuan Lu:

http://ditu.google.cn/?ie=UTF8&ll=39...,0.080338&z=14

(You have to zoom in a bit to see Meiyuan Lu written down)

It's not completely isolated, no. But it's still a bit weird. If you look at the map, it's at the very, very edge of the city. But I suppose with the subway line going in nearby, it could be worse.

Thanks, Clashman. I'm not aware of any supertall planned for wei jin nan lu, as its mostly low-rise villas and townhouses. I was mistaken as I thought that the road was close to Huayuan (haven't been checking my maps lately )

Are they really building this? If its 570m when completely it'll be by far the tallest building in China, but it seems quite low profiled.

Plus its in Tianjin? I don't even think Tianjin even has supertalls and all of a sudden they're building a 570m supertall...just seems a little out of the blue.

Btw love the design, clean and simple

The City has been neglected ever since it recieved the self governing status. Now that Shanghai and Beijing has had their turns, it's time for Tianjin to play catch up.

It really is a very important costal port city.
