So many people say this exact same thing over and over again.

The current roof height of 1,957 feet is incredibly impressive and will easily make this building one of the 5 tallest buildings to roof height when it is completed. (Keep in mind Ping An IFC roof height is 1,929 feet). So let's forget about the 3 meters it is short of being 600 meters and just appreciate the height it will actually be.

Even though Abraj al Bait is 601m, this one is much taller to roof height.

Tianjin > Shenzhen

I think Tianjin has way more construction activities than Shenzhen. I mean, they're currently building a Manhattan-esque new CBD from scratch with 125 highrise buildings, some of which rank among the tallest buildings in the world.

China's construction boom, a bubble?

Wow! Based on your description, China's construction industry is truly in high gear!

So, where in particular did you see these "endless" construction activities? Do you happen to know the name of the place? Or do you mean the outskirts of Tianjin?

But, with all these construction activities as well as some talk of certain Chinese cities (i.e., Dongguan, Ordos, Wenzhou, and Zhengzhou) that are having massive oversupply issues when it comes to residential property units. I hope China does not experience a property meltdown the like that put once high-flying Ireland (with its 300,000 empty houses) and Dubai to their knees.

While all this construction is well and good. I do wish that they start to slow down to more manageable or sustainable levels.

Each city is gaining around than 500,000 inhabitans a year. Tianjin, Shenzhen and Guangzhou must be close to that figure too.

Well, it was between Shanghai and Beijing. I took the hi-speed train. I'm not sure what to think of it. There were only a few moments when the train moved to more hilly area's without buildings but sometimes the buildings continued for an hours. Not sure if they were massive outskirts of big cities or little booming towns.

I made a small movie with my telephone of just a few minutes of the trip but imagine this for a few hours long.

Sometimes even quite nice high-rises which would get a lot of views if they were build in any european city.

I thought over 1800 ft you got Mega Staus.. No i'm sorry I just saw it 600m ft? for mega. 300m ft? I think they should take the Supertall stat and make it 400,, because just seems like there are too many ppl who settle with Super,,, But Imagine USA adding on 160m,, there's room and there you have it, the 2nd most beautiful bldg in the western hemisphere, actually probably think it would look #1 next to WTC1

Supertall = 300m/1000ft
Megatall = 600m/2000ft

This tower is one of the best in Tianjin, but they did not add 3 meters to make it a megatall one.....

Only if this tower is in the heart of the city... I hate the fact that this is built somewhere in the countryside where few ppl pass by everyday

I wish it was that simple but that math doesn't work.

300 meters = 984 feet
600 meters = 1,968 feet

However, I do think a megatall should be required to reach 2,000 feet and 1,000 feet for a supertall.
