I notice those 4 columns now you point it out, at what point will they connect with the main structure?

Weird difference to Shanghai Tower and Ping'An though, at those two towers the concrete of the supercolumns is always a couple dozen meters behind the steel, while here they seem to go up simultanously.

It's because here they most likely don't use steel sections to construct megacolumns. They most likely made them with reinforced concrete only hence concrete formworks at the top of each column. I guess it is the choice of the contractor what option they go with, There are other towers where supercolumns are made of reinforced concrete for instance lotte super tower use the same scheme..

Those supercolumns are made of steel. They go in as 3 different sections, the frames are only there to provide assistance when placing more supercolumn pieces. No concrete has been placed on them yet and it doesn't seem like there will be any concrete on them.

Hmm interesting. I never saw them placing any steel section during construction of this tower (except some in the underground levels) so that's why I suggested they may be made off concrete only. But if that's really the case it's strange similar "formworks" aren't used in other construction sites. And also while this one may use steel sections I'm pretty certain lotte tower doesn't.

No concrete for the supercolumns? It really doesn't look like steel

They may be using painted steel sections like they do at The Chow Tai Fook Guangzhou.

When you think about it it is possible they use this formworks also to paint connections between steel elements. You can clearly see brighter tripes on the columns - very likely a places of connections.

aren't these just screw conectors to connect 2 pieces of rebar?

Well like you I'm just an observer. So unless we have an insider somewhere around we can only guess. I think you may be right, but whatever it is it's clear they use those formworks to install it.

In this picture we can clearly see that the super columns are composed of large steel segments, yes, like the ones used at the CTF GZ. There are 2 larger steel segments used on the corner portions of the columns with 2 steel segments to fill in the space between them.

Now I also believe what Patrykus said is correct, about the lighter strips lining the super columns as places of connection.

It also does not appear to be coated in concrete as the width of the portion below the form is the same as the width above. The bottom columns are just normally going to be more dirty with grime.
