Ping an is faster, but it's not really slow.

Could be indeed, since "4" is a bad number in China. They did that already in other projects as far as i know

i just read some pages of Chinese supertalls under construction. i realized bamboo scaffoldings are not widely used. i thought its a standard practice to wrap the building around with cover usually with green nets using bamboo scaffolding. just like in Hong Kong. Any idea why they are not used on these structures?

They do use bamboo in China... I imagine because it's cheap (easy to reuse) and actually very durable/stable.

Maybe it's changed recently, but I was last there a few years ago and they were using it on most highrises.

Maybe buildings of this scale (e.g. IFC in HK) never get bamboo scaffolding?

I read somewhere there's regulation for material for scaffold structure in China. There's no scaffold material regulation in HK so they can use steel if they want. But in HK there are dedicated bamboo scaffolding installers/companies so bamboo is the choice of material. Quick, flexible shape(cut to required length), and readily available.

bamboo is light, flexible, cheap, eco-friendly and very quick to grow (some species 6ft a day) - also stronger than steel.

What is the function of the "silver collars" around the corner posts? Some are right at the top of the post, then sometimes you see 10-20 ft of concrete above them? I LOVE this bldg,, I think if it were a mere 3 meters taller, and considered a MEGA, it would get a lot more members paying closer attention and not only 1 page of coverage every 10 days, like it seems to have now. I think this building beats every aspect of Ping An, except the finally height tally that is helped with PA's massive spire.

The silver formwork is used for the workers to be able to seal up the seams between the new steel pieces of the super columns. You can see the sealed components of the super columns on the lower portions.

Amastroi is correct. Those are pieces of super columns that are welded together to form the 4 corners, there is no concrete on the edges.
