Well. there has been some progress, but I agree with you that this has been inordinately slow.

Such a frank confession of the status quo is a bad sign, isn't it? Dubai Pearl project won't just go on a temporary hold then, but either come back with totally new funding and/or design (most likely reduced cost/office space) in a couple of years... or never. That's how I understand it.

Further action on the site will happen for pullout preperation, I guess...

Perhaps you're right. Dubai Pearl is/was a bit of a monster, instead of sleak towers. But it's a special design, and it would've been interesting to see it happen in the coming months.

. That gets me thinking, have any block buster films been shot in Dubi? They are always a good sign of world credibility.

There is a shooter game coming that plays in a deserted Dubai.

Lots of landsmarks can be seen in the trailer.

The forthcoming Mission Impossible 4 is supposed to have an action scene with Tom Cruise rappeling around the Burj Khalif.

Dubai Pearl to sell hotel assets

Will triple equity capital to fund development

By Sam Smith | Published Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Dubai Pearl on the other hand has sold more than 500 residences accounting for 25 per cent of the total residential assets. (SUPPLIED)

Quote:
Dubai Pearl FZ LLC, a company owned by a consortium of investors led by the Al Fahim Group of Abu Dhabi, is looking at injecting more equity capital, selling hotel assets and tapping bank finance to fund its Dh13bn Dubai Pearl development.

The company plans to triple its equity and quasi-equity base from the current Dh1bn to Dh3bn over the next two years but downplays the idea of stakes dilution.

Dubai Pearl CEO discusses project's progress

Quote:
Nov 17, 2010

Dubai Pearl founder and CEO Santhosh Joseph and RMAL Hospitality CEO Anthony Liddiard reveal why it is so important that the AED 7.4 billion development brings a new hotel proposition to the emirate, and why brands such as MGM will make such a difference

Considering the number of projects in Dubai that have been put on hold, cancelled, or conveniently forgotten, you would be forgiven for wondering whether the 20 million ft², AED 7.4 billion (US $2 billion) Dubai Pearl superstructure had gone by the wayside.

Aside from a few stylish billboards which are lining Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai Pearl has kept fairly quiet about the development in recent months, but the silence belies both continual planning and ongoing construction.

During a visit to the Dubai Pearl office last month, it became clear that the team have been working around the clock to deliver this 24-hour city within a city, which the developer’s founder and CEO Santhosh Joseph promises will be an “epicentre of entertainment”.
