wow great stuff.
it looks very spread out, all over the place kinda, and green.
looks the most european like too out of most american cities.
so many monuments and things to visit and see.
thanx!

DC city centre has to be one of my favourite looking American cities. If I were to visit an American city it really would have to be a toss-up between DC and New York. It really does look quite Euro in some shots.

Looks lovely, very European, but then if i was visitng the states i would want to see other cities (due to coming from Europe) as it doesnt offer anything better. But these pics have changed my image of it being quite boring, looks lovely and cosmepolitan.

To answer your question.

Its the Washington D.C temple of the latter-day saints (mormons!). It looks really wicked!

And nice pics!

Pics 9 and 102 are of the Mormon Temple.

On pic 48 do you know what that was on? I'm curious to see something like that from the city of Baltimore.

How did you take the aerial pics? They weren't all taken from atop the Washington monument were they??

all the pics looking down were from the Monument (i took some from my hotel in Arlington but they're not in this thread.)

48 is a commemorative stone inside the monument, given by Baltimore; there are lots of commemorative donor stones on the interior, some of which can be seen on the elevator rides. sometimes there are night time "walk down" tours of the interior to look at more of the stones.

Oh wow the old Woodward & Lothrop dept. store. I use to come in and out of those doors with my mother many times. Very nice pics and thanks for the memories.

Terrific set of pictures. It's curious how urban Washington looks from one angle and the almost complete opposite from another angle.

Regarding the building with the golden peaks: isn't that a masonic site? I could be confusing it with another building though.

Nice architecture, although it looks a bit totalitarian.
