Sure, this is the first time I read that Austria was occupied by foreign armies after the WWII!

Many people also don't know significant parts of the later DDR were liberated/invaded by Americans, not Russians. Allied forces came as far east as Magdeburg, Leipzig and Chemnitz. Some say that Allied forces may have even been able to reach Berlin before the Russians did in early April 1945, but they were ordered to halt at the Elbe/Mulde.

It's off-topic though

correct. the occupation zones were formed in Yalta (Feb 1945). there was not need to waste Allied blood to move further east.

Basically it is because the occupation and division of Austria was finished in 1955 (Austrian State Treaty*). Even here in Hungary this part of history is quite unknown although it was in our direct proximity.

* It was unable to make a peace treaty with Austria for Austria was not in a war (because Austria simply did not exist during the war).

Indeed , the yellow chinese sign on the left is more likely to comprehend than this sign.

Could the lower sign mean light trucks (up to 7,5t)?

I think it tries to tell us that trucks aren't allowed, but pictures of trucks are.

Sometimes a traffic sign might given an extra meaning, leading to odd solutions.

That 'ban on trucks' sign in Finland bans vans, too, even if that fact is not visible at the sign. If there is a need to ban trucks only, that must be shown using a secondary sign:

Not a very clear arrangement.

Ring them, and tell them I'm really sorry, and I'll never do it again.

What did you do this time, not what do you do to make them forget it. :-)

Ignored a no entry sign for vans and trucks in a van in Salo, Finland. Actually, I didn't ignore that sign, because I didn't even know about it...

Do not worry. Virtually everything is allowed in Finland but speeding. The fines from speeding is a huge cash cow to the state.

Well... I have really used up my credits in Finland I think... But you have to agree that 80 km/h on the Helsinki approaches is a bit of a drag... Are fatal shootings in Finland also allowed? You get a few of those...
