For some reason, the signs within the responsibility of City of Helsinki are often inconsistent, their colouring is random, and the system is hiding information. The situation has improved during the last 20 years, but still there is a lot to do.

This Lahti/Kotka case, I think, dates back to 1980's. In that era, the control city of the road 7 was not Kotka but Porvoo. The motor traffic road Helsinki-Porvoo was complete in late 1970's while the Helsinki-Lahti was finally opened almost 10 years later. The coloring might be based on this, and the person responsible for the current signs is not aware on the motorway to Lahti being opened 15+ years ago.

In fact, that stretch of a few kilometers is signed in three ways: blue-blue, blue-green, and green-green:

To be consistent, all of the signs to Lahti, Kotka and Tuusula should be either blue or green.

(Look carefully at the second image: There are signs for three lanes, but only two lanes exist. Bad design even if the third lane begins 50 meters after the gantry.)

The colouring rules are somewhat ambiguous. There are no guidelines on where the blue signs can be changed to green ones. In addition, criteria on when to use white instead of blue are not very exact.

Talking about buses

I bet the meaning of this sign is clear as hell. But the fun fact is the sign is not even defined in any law

The additional sign says: "Merging of public transportation vehicles"

it is just about the time when they will invent the sign "attention, cars on the road"

Why? Does it make too much noise on the bridge? Or will it collapse?

The German way would be Brüssel and would be weird at this location.

But where is the location and why are francophones being required to take a longer route?

Shudder.

You and I may be the only non-Belgians (assuming you're a non-Belgian) on this thread who knows what that means, though. (But is it "all over again" or "still," really...?)

Are you still driving through the junkyard between Holland, France and Germany? How brave.
