Most probably... I always had the perception that the SM structure is a "make-shift" one. Back then, napa isip ako na hindi yata seryoso si SM sa Davao mall nya kasi bakit parang lego lang ang nilagay niya. But maybe it has something to do with contemporary building materials and the relative ease to expand in futuro.

yes, pareho tayo...when i saw the structure..at parang mga aluminum kung baga lang ang materials.with the bolts2x..napaisip ako parang hindi ata nila gusto na magbuild ng mall sa davao...prang napilitan ata...or prang "tama na yan, basta may sm mall lng sa davao"...what is that???...hehehe...
sana may 2nd sm,.. yung mas maganda ang design at yung may davao trademark tlga..kasi almost same lng design ng sm sa dava0-cdo at pampanga...

With the "onslaught" of major mall developers in Davao, I do not think SM would rest its case just yet...

SM City Davao is located in Ecoland area. That google shot's been taken years ago. Eto yung mga bago sa area na yan:

ECO 4000 CONDO Residences Building A
ECO 4000 CONDO Residences Building B

The back portion of SM City Davao wis being developed right now into another condominium complex called ONE OASIS DAVAO which will have the following;

- 4 Residential Condominium Buildings (MRB)
- 3 Condotels (MRB)

Across SM CITY will also be a site of a hotel expansion by Royal Mandaya Hotel.

under construction na ang robinsons davao, kita na ang steel bars protruding sa mataas na fence sa kanilang lot.

while ang ayala business park this june pa mag start ang earth moving (BPO buildings first, mall will follow this december, and so on with the rest of the phases like hotels and offices (2008-2012).

for now this is the latest presentation of ayala concerning their davao mall.

nope...completion of the mall's Phase 1 would be in the 4th quarter of 2010 while the Phase 2 would be in the 3rd quarter of 2011. And that would be a gross leasable area of 90,000 sqm, bigger than SM City Davao.

the way i understand their previous press releases, 4 phases ang business park. so with the 2 phases allocated for the mall, maybe this is the setup.

phase 1 - bpo buildings - june 2008
phase 2 - mall phase 1 - december 2008
phase 3 - mall phase 2 - 2009
phase 4 - hotels and office - 2010 or 2011
