Your Drawings

Hi!

Anybody here who also draws highways and/or interchanges?

If you do so, please feel free to present your drawings in this topic

Especially I find it always interesting how to cross more than 2 highways.

Here is a drawing of an fictional interchange with 3 highways (1 of those ends here = 5 directions in total)

it is located in a fictional agglomeration with the biggest city in northwest dir., the 2nd biggest city in southwest dir., north, south and east are for thru traffic and suburbia.

of course the rampo dimensions and lenght of merging lanes etc. are not realistic this drawing is just to show where the ramps could be

and this is a variation with only 2 levels (of course other variations with adding a 3rd and/&or 4th level are possible)

P.S This should be in the Skybar or the Architecture & Drawings (don't remember the exact name) section.

doesn't your cam have a macro funktion (the symbol is like a flower) or how about going away and use the maximal (optical) zoom?

EDIT: I started this thread here, because I think that not so many roadgeeks visit that section (well, at least I don't or I do pretty unregulary)

here is another, but the idea is not from me (a german forumer (wolfgang wilhelm) "invented" it on the german autobahn forum) and i just put in on paper. but my drawing lacks symmetry

D1 near Brno

Well, Patrick, very nice theme I thought I'm the only crazy man, drawing sth like that

I've drawn myself something similar just a month ago, but I'm drawing stuff like that since ca. 10 years ago

Here's my latest (but very simple as to quality) proposal - it represents a fictional situation on motorways and expressways SW of Brno:

uf, i should look somewhere at loft, my notebooks from highschool are full of motorway drawings! i also somewhere have large sheets of papers with drawings, but those are coloured with traffic signs and done with rulers and curve-rulers, those are real masterpieces!

I have drawn such things once when i learned how AutoCAD worked for my job. With actual design standards and stuff.

There are some examples of 5 freeways in the world.

Like the Orange Crush interchange in Santa Ana, CA and the Sonnborner Kreuz in Germany.

And what about the East LA interchange.

I like to adapt excisting interchanges to make them better:

KP Velperbroek, A12/A348, currently a simple roundabout:

My idea:

Removing the TOTSO in KP Azelo, A1/A35:

Completion of KP Ouddijk, A12/A18. currently the direct connections A18-A12east and A12east-A18 are missing:

Chris' wet dream

And this is my self drawn map of an imaginary metropole: Vlekkerdam

Suburb Dalfen:

Suburb Pelterdijk:

Aggl. Vlekkerdam:

Vlekkerdam Centre-east:

Vlekkerdam Centre-west:

Vlekkerdam Airport:

Harbour:

i've been drawing the imaginary cities, too. i didn't paint it so it didn't look as map (as yours) but those cities had were fabolous! i also made suburbs and villages and smaller cities around in radius of some 30 km.

and the best thing - i would allways start drawing it while i was bored in school in notebook. i didn't intend to draw a city, i made a line, that line became a railroad, railroad got few tunnels, then came motorway, one part of motorway became a bypass of a city. then i drew some approaches from motorway to city, than streets, other motorway, railroads, infrastructure, other cities... i would start in school and continue at home it actually allways looked similar to Vlekkerdam except industrial zones were larger and i had only one river

No, i do it occasionaly for my work, but i usual focus on different projects. AutoCAD (the program which we use), requires a lot of training, since it's a bit more than the average paint options

I'm drawing motorways, junctions, bypasses and road signs also from about 7 years. I will try to find those drawings and scann it and put on SSC
