Guide Sign Drawings...

Seeing all of the pencil and paper drawings brought back a lot of memories. When I was a little kid, I would spend hours making drawings like some of the ones posted in this thread.

What I've really gotten into is drawing guide signs on my computer. Besides posting my drawings here and at the AARoads forums, I also create exit signs for my exit guides covering the freeways of Silicon Valley (Santa Clara County) on my website. Most of them follow California specs which differ slightly from the rest of the USA but have been accepted by the FHWA...

This was based off a suggestion another forum user posted in the Interstate Highways thread. Only problem I had with this sign was way too many control cities and is way too talk for California standards. It would be hard to read that sign at 65 MPH.

California 85 at California 17 exit.

For those of you who have visited AARoads.com, these signs should look familiar.

I-5 southbound approaching the East L.A. interchange (Jct I-10 and CA-60)

Disneyland HOV/Carpool exit sign.

What if US 101 were to become I-3? This is what the signs at the 101-280-680 interchange in San Jose, CA may look like if I-280 became I-203.

Finally, a little Photoshopping.
First the original photo of the CA-99/CA-120 interchange in Manteca, CA (Photo courtesy of AARoads)...

After a little tweaking in Photoshop, I end up with this...

I'm trying some road drawing with MS Paint.

Just as a test, would you consider this a decent work?

Of course, many details are missing... and yes, I know, that lane is heading nowhere

so i go over this bridge everyday to go to work... its the johnson street bridge in victoria, canada; and is currently under review to be reconstructed.. so that gave me the idea to draw the area with a round about, and remove the horrible S curve on the west side..:CURRENTLY, there is a lift bridge for the harbor ships; which would make the roundabout almost useless at the times when its up.. BUT, if it was being rebuilt with a non lift bridge this concept might work... http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ie=...10568&t=h&z=17

this drawing is completely fictional...

as you can see i have many...

I have a 90 foot long by ten foot wide highway drawing at home refered to as a road mat made out of reused paper that has a clossal HO layout drawing of a city and it's freeway system I would like to build in a giant train set one day.

I also like to do a lot of artworks with fictional highways and bridges in it for fan fictions and storylines

This link is to a photo of a Ho scale train set track running though a giant fish tank.

Here is also a photo chopped photo showing what the James River and Kanawha Canal system would look like if it was restored.

Generally, I don't draw roads, just the things that drive on them.

Or off.

I did this in the 80's. Back then I thought I was the only one doing it.

Is it a project by your own or is this a real airport?

I am crazy about civil aviation so why don't you open a topic in the airport section in order to show us your drawings?

By the way, this one is extremely well done and it shows an airport that could easily be one of the best airport in the world!

looks a bit like beign loosely based on London Heathrow Airport (LHR), the main terminal with it's two satellites sows a clear resemblance of LHR terminal 5, the same goes for the two parallel runways.
a real masterpiece anyway, the best airport drawing i've seen until now.

You're pretty right about Heathrow! That airport is my 2nd home (airport) after Milan Malpensa (MXP)!

It seems that the "third" runway of LHR (the old 04/22) has been renewed and now it operates as LHR's third RWY!

http://oceanrailroader.deviantart.co...ctor-497667809Lately I have been working on some artworks for a fan fiction about humans and ponies building Highways across the pony land of Equestira. I also have been working on some road and bridge drawings for a comic that is about the King of Lilliput. These highways show what the fictional human land of Lilliput looks like.

Here is a drawing of a fictional highway called a Gallupway that runs though the Crystal Empire in Equestira http://oceanrailroader.deviantart.co...Pass-496533199 and http://oceanrailroader.deviantart.co...oles-496631880

The modern four lane highway was built by humans wanting to link the Crystal Empire's largest ocean going port with the Capital City of Canterlot.
