in this video you can see some screenshots of my GTA III. At that time (I made that some years ago), I didn't know about the right arrows and fonts etc and just used given forms in Picture It.

In the meantime, I edited the signs with real arrows and the DIN font, but that is on my personal computer at home and I don't have any screenshots of them here on the notebook.

oh, and that 7-way-crossing on the 3rd page is jsut insane! and genius!

Nifty mod to GTA III. I can't even imagine what number of lanes would be required to feed into that insane interchange I drew. I'm thinking 6 lanes each side on the freeway/motorway legs and maybe 4 lanes each side on the dual carriageways. Some of the ramps would have to be 2-4 lanes by themselves. Now that is insane.

I did the same, I was drawing plenty of roads and interchanges in my notebooks during the lessons

I sometimes do too, but I can't draw at all. Sometimes when I have to write something in class which I have to hand in, I get a laptop, otherwise the teachers have to spend hours with decoding my handwriting.

Well. I have been drawing as well - although it's already nearly 20 years ago I stopped making those drawings. Nonetheless I always kept my drawing books. When I moved to a new house 2 years ago, I found them and made some pictures of them.

In the beginning it was just fun to put as much roads as possible on 2xA3.

Later I loived to draw impossible intersections...

After that another era started: the drawings became more detailed, with space for slow traffic.

Some years later public railtransport entered my drawings

The era of ludicrous space for public transport, with lots of detail in the catenary constructions.

At the end of the 1980'ies the level of detail just improved another stage. This suburb railstation is an example from that era.

Again lots of attention for public transport, bikers and pedestrians...

- but nonetheless also a number of pure road-drawings, ever searching for ways to create grade separated junctions.

In the last year I made this one just as a joke...
in detail

At the end of my drawing hobby I also created some drawings which resembled maps. And often drawings had their own history - because the drawing was made "chronologically"".
In detail (1,7 MB!).

Plan of Lallestad.Of course inspired by the Dutch Flevopolders and never realised Markerwaard and the city of Lelystad...

All my drawings will probably remain in a mover-box until the next time I move into another home.

Have you ever thought of compiling them and refining the images, then trying to get them published as a children's book? I know when I was seven, I would have been fascinated trying to figure out where everything goes.

@ aswnl: This one is great. How can any pedestrian cross this 11-lane street, walking among cars driving 80 km/h, without loosing his life?

Mind the warning sign with "prijsschieten" which means something like priceshooting.

Nice set of drawings aswnl!

About 17 years ago, I taped continuous sheets of paper together and drew a rather detailed cityscape - first in pencil then inked over - it was about 5 ft by 6 ft in size. Unfortunately in my numerous moves since then, they've long since been lost. I wish I had the time to try to duplicate that effort - either by hand or digitally. I still doodle here and there though.
